World cup draw this evening

Personally i hope we get a really tough group. We might be seeded but there are some very strong unseeded teams such as Holland. I think the team plays much better against tougher opposition and a run of difficult games should get the team ready for the knock-out stages.

Thoughts?

being an australian, i want to see australia in the same group as england.. can you imagine the atmosphere at the pubs here?

i wonder if pubs in town will televise the draw (bbc2)...

yeah i can see you're point but the worst group would have to be:

England
Holland
USA
Australia

that would be a nightmare!

that would be a great group for australians:

england - revenge for the ashes
USA - revenge for comments this week saying we're the worst team
holland - hrmm.. *shrug*

Yeah that would be a very tough group. I hope we avoid the aussies (sorry jubas) because there would be a lot more to the game than just the football and there's every chance we could slip up.

I think we're almost guarenteed to come up against at least 1 quality team, if you look at the european group

Croatia
Czech Republic
Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Sweden
Switzerland
Ukraine

they are all top class (except maybe the swiss), it will be a good early test of how well the team is playing. I'm really looking forward to this world cup, a lot more so than any other year

GROUP A
Germany
Costa Rica
Poland
Ecuador

GROUP B
England
Paraguay
Trinidad & Tobago
Sweden

GROUP C
Argentina
Ivory Coast
Serbia & Montenegro
Holland

GROUP D
Mexico
Iran
Angola
Portugal

GROUP E
Italy
Ghana
USA
Czech Republic

GROUP F
Brazil
Croatia
Australia
Japan

GROUP G
France
Switzerland
South Korea
Togo

GROUP H
Spain
Ukraine
Tunisia
Saudi Arabia

Quite an easy group and the prospect of maybe playing the germans in the next round. Not looking forward to playing sweden again though

A pretty good group for England, made even better by potentially playing 2nd place in Group A (Poland?) in the second round should we win Group B. Quarter-finals should be well within England's grasp.

Can't see that happening, if australia do get out their group, and everything goes according to the bookies favourites elsewhere, australia would play either chzech rep or italy in the first knock out stage..

it's a good draw for england, they get a relitavley easy run of it up until the quarter finals.

well my predictions didnt have italy coming out of their group, i had Australia topping their group so had USA in the 2nd round, then Ukraine in Q/F.

You never know, look at the amount of shocks last world cup.

At least two of the top seeds wont get past the group stage IMO

yeah but bring back the Krauts I say! reckon we can give them another thrashing.

i was watching the draw with my girlfriend, and we picked the teams as they were pulled into australia's group...

'i bet we get brazil'....*brazil
'i bet we get croatia or someone'....*croatia
'wouldn't it be funny if we got japan now'....*japan

bugger.

it's a horrible horrible group

england's on the other hand should be relatively easy.. as long as they can get past bloody sweden!

Should definitely be the most entertaining group!

And I'll get to cheer on Scotland against England!

Well... Jason Scotland.
