[Prog-House]DS ft. Jenry - Turning Forward [128kbps sample]-[UPDATED]

Hey. I havent posted anything real from me for a long while so I figured I'd give you a taste . I'm in the process of completely reworking this track since my last take on it sucked ass but I think itll be a good vocal track when its done.

[UPDATE:]I've swapped in a new sample of the song. It comes in late in the intro and you get to hear the breakaway. Disregard the vocals that come in at the end because I plan on doing plenty of crazy shit with them. I feel that at the moment, they bring the track to a crawl when they come in and I'm looking into ways of fixing that. If you have any suggestions on how to do this, I'd be greatful . So far I've come up with: filling in the bassline and making it more solid, dropping completely out and into a breakdown, and doing breaks rather than 4x4. Regardless, I'm hoping to pull of some Sonambulist type effects with these vocals but we'll jsut have to see how that goes . Jenry and I both thank you very much for all the kind comments.

DarkSword ft. Jenry - Turning Forward
Current: v1.13b

Zac

Updated. And if anyone can pin this genre down, I'd be greatful, because I have absolutely no idea what to call this shit :P.

I thing progressive is the best word for it.

Nice track, well produced. Few slight glitches though.

The bass seems to distort a little too much on the high end frequencies in the first few seconds for my taste. A better quality distortion effect plugin or hardware will fix that i think.

Nice panning percs. Bit of a braintwister which I like.

If you made the whining doppler sound yourself that's prety clever.

Love the short filtered lead loop thing, I think it should be expressed more, maybe a bit louder and punchyer. The kind of sound i'd want to completely overload on env en effect automations.

But that's just my style, be sure to do your own thing.

Kind regards,

Charlie Darwin

Hey. Thanks for the review nhibberd . I did in fact make that whining sound by hand . Not sure if I underderstand about the overloadeing on the envelope though?

Just a little more info about it. Its actualyl a vocal track featuring Jenry. I've been working on this track off and on for a long while and have finalyl grown interested in it again. It may be a while before I finish it though because I'm reworking the entire thing from where it was a few months ago .

Cheers,
Zac

FUCK!

Holy shit man, this track is so fucking good! I can't wait til' you finish it and get the full version.

As for genre, I would say Electro.

you already now what i think of it.
very good work.

edit: progressive trance for me

Hey. Thank you for the comments . I'm still pounding away at this track and its horribly tedious figuring out what to keep and what should go. Its not fun destroying large portions of work that took days . I think the song will make a lot more sense and it will be a little more fulfilling past the intro but if you could fill me in on what kinds of things youd like to hear, that would be great, dj_palm. .

Cheers,
Zac

it could be cool to play with rfytms maybe on this one, at end of 8bars etc, maybe. like some reversing and stuff, dont know. i cant imagine how jenrys voice would fit in there tho caus he usualy sings in those trance tunes. it would be cool to hear how it fitted with the voice. lets hear more.

I can do that . About another sample, you might have to wait til release , but we'll see :P.

Zac

That swooshy pad sound is cool, gives the track real character. Overall got a nice laidback feel to it. Some sort of nice melody might be a good progression from this point onwards. Something retro sounding maybe.

Bass smacks of dirty electro but it almost sounds like its overdriven. Its a nice touch but feel it dominates the track too much. Not a biggie, just needs some compression.

Great track so far man! I'm really digging it. Love the grooving bassline a lot. I think it sounds perfect. I like the bit of distortion it has.

I also really like that whining synth pad people keep mentioning. Definitely adds character and atmosphere. Reminds me of the Rescue 9-1-1 theme a bit though, hehe. Hearing the voice coming in ever so slightly towards the end of the track gets me anxious to hear what's coming!

This track is DYING for an Andy Moor style melody to come in towards the middle of the track!

As for the genre, I'm kinda thinking... progressive house?

Would appreciate a listen & review of my track here. Thanks!

P.S. For some stupid reason, it wont let me update the title of the thread?? Oh well...
