Dunno Why do people care about the Tracklist in a Set?

I mean, What diffrence does it make?

am I missing something?

Posted by RebeL9 on Dec-10-2005 06:31:

if people want to buy the records played in the set they need to know the name of the tracks?

Posted by Numidia on Dec-10-2005 06:32:

people wanna know who produced the tunes since you don't get that info just from knowing who spun the set. The producers deserve the real credit

I think you mean BUY singles. BUY them so the producers can produce more TUNES for you to ENJOY and BUY. I've also heard scattered reports that trance music producers enjoy eating at least once a day.

Because if there was no tracklist...how would we know what tracks in the list we are listening to?

HOW WOULD WE KNOW?

You just gotta listen to your heart man. Thats all you can do. Thats all I've ever done, and look where its got me.

if u like a song and want to buy it.. or d/l it i guess
so u know the name of it for next time you hear it
so u can tell other people about a song u like from the set
so u can tell other people what songs are in the set
so u kno the songs and discuss if they or the set are good/bad
so u can tell what the set is like before u listen to it or d/l it

theres probably a shitload more

My heart says marry B&B....marry B&B....but it's not meant to B...my heart is now owned by another, and her name is jennypie. She's my mistress now. Sorry B&B.

Hmmm I dont think these setlists are always a great thing though...

I have a pet hate. Its the clueless gimps on here that see a setlist thread in one of the forums and assuredly declare its 'old' or it was a 'boring/rubbish night' or 'no flow'. Please.

- Can you pick up the entire mood of the night, the venue and the crowd from that list?
- Do you know how the guy playing before set things up and how he was received?
- Have you already researched into the history of that DJ playing in that venue/city/country and why he might play particular tracks on that night?
- Have you even really listened to every track from the list before. Even the ones that havent been played on ASOT in your 18 months of listening?

I dont care really.

I usually listen to most of the stuff i download in the DJ promotion forum without looking at the tl closely 1st..

And i dont listen to livesets other than the DJ promotion booth and friends of mine

Posted by THE_Chris on Dec-10-2005 12:10:

Tracklists are important. Lets face it, an ID in a tracklist means some producer went out of his way to send a promo to a DJ and hes never gotten anything back for it, even thanks.

Think of it this way. For those in the know, last year noone on here knew who "Two Fishes" or "Vince o Matic" were. Now we all know of them, and we have respect for them. Which is probobly all they want.

absolutely none what so ever.

yeah its sometimes nice to know what tracks are called, but really it doesnt matter.

Posted by weymouth on Dec-10-2005 17:14:

it makes me happy

Posted by daylightdancer on Dec-10-2005 17:17:

it matters to me, imo. i mean if i go out and i really enjoy a night out and then i will want to know the set,so i can either find the set and download it or if i like particular tracks download them or buy them as it will remind me of the night, and had good time. Theres soo many other reasons as well

Posted by washout on Dec-10-2005 17:45:

if i was a dj id spin a set and never release the tracklist.
and when you ask me for it i will say get the fuck away.

Thats exactly what most people would tell you

Posted by Ishkur on Dec-10-2005 18:28:

Because people certainly don't listen to them for the DJing.

I dont think that's entirely true.

Posted by Joe Nas on Dec-10-2005 18:35:

soo they can searched in a p2p program for tunes they liked in the set

Posted by Mindphaser on Dec-10-2005 18:52:

cause some people think.

then your would be a shite, self obsessed dj!
you only play for yourself and dont want anyone else to know the tunes you spin because you know if anyone else plays them theyd probably play them better than you!

if every dj was a selfish prick like you then theyr would be no industry because no-one would want anyone else to hear their tunes meaning the tunes wouldnt get the recognition they deserve so the producers would have to find another way to pay the bills and if theyr was no producers ... THERE WOULD BE NO DJS!!!
