Ipod problem

Hey guys, my ipod shuffle, is not recognized by my computer when i connect it to the USB...it doesnt even show up as a drive on the computer or anything
anyone know what could be the cause of the problem?:

thanks!!!

Posted by SpecRadio on Dec-11-2005 09:02:

Hit it with a large sledge hammer. Run it over with a steam roller. Take it back to the iPod store and say you dropped it and it just shattered.

Ipod shuffle sucks, donate it to homeless people in New Orleans.

Get Ipod vedio.

is it unrecognized as in you dont get a 'new hardware added' option.

or do you mean unrecognized as in windows/your OS doesnt know what the new hardware is, but it knows its there?

Posted by dRale on Dec-11-2005 21:20:

nothing is recognized

Try reformatting your harddrive, then do a full system scan on your Fat32 drive. Upstart your troubleshoot map and congifure your new USB .sys button with the old one.

That should clear it up.

My mp3 player did that - turned out it was the cable that attached to the comp when i replaced that it was fine.

No idea what an "iPod vedio" is.

Plus, the latest iPod is called the "iPod with video support". NOT an "iPod Video". You might see an iPod Video out sometime next year.

Next iPod is supposed to have perpendicular hdd's er some shit like that.

Don't expect it to work though.

Posted by prothoid on Dec-12-2005 00:08:

computers are weird, anything you can think of try it. make sure the ipod is on too. i spent over an hour trying to upload pictures from a digital camera one time only to realise the device needed to be turned on for windows to realise it was connected.

Posted by dRale on Dec-12-2005 00:10:

no guys its not any of the usual problems that are overlooked
and not a bad cable because its an i pod shuffle
i installed the latest update but it is still not recognized
nothing is wrong with the usb drive either

:S

thanks anyways

Maybe plug n play isn't on? Try different usb ports. I'm sure there's at least 2.

Most newer motherboards have 4 - 6 and front ones also.

Posted by TigerClaw on Dec-12-2005 01:19:

Try plugging it on another computer to see if the other computer detects it, Or try plugging it to a different USB slot, and look at the device manager and see if theres device with a ! on it, if so, remove it.

Yah, and get 2 stinking hours of battery life in a format thats barely popular, takes hours to convert to, and forces you to lose quality.

This, is just one of iPods many miserable problems. If you want a REAL mp3/video player, get the new Creative Zen Vision:M

Features:
-30gb
-Divx/xvid playback and WMV, and mpeg
-4 hours, not 2 of, of video playback
-MP3, WMA, WAV playback
-JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF with zoom and pan (not on ipod)
-FM Radio
-Mic
-DVD quality video supporting up to 720x480 resolution
-Much sharper screen than ipods using a 262k color screen as opposed to ipods crappy 62k
-5 band EQ (ipod has nothing except for shite presets).
-power adapter INCLUDED (not with ipod)
-etc etc etc etc etc

*note: product not for trendwhores.

Have you tried it on another comp? might work there.
If it doesnt work at all, just return it. easy as. geez

Well, you're far better off getting something else that iPod..

Iriver or the new Vision M is probably the way to go.
