ATB @ Spundae.... *review*
I can't believe I ended up going to this. I was always curious to see what kind of stuff ATB was playing these days, since I used to like him alot when I was in highschool (back in the days when i didn't know any better about EDM lol).
I know I talk alot of shit about most trance DJ's, but ATB made Ferry, Tiesto, etc look like GOD's! Not only is ATB's track selection lame, but he doesn't know how to mix (i'm not exagerating). He was playing all the cheesey trance anthems that every other trance DJ plays. He got a little better his last hour, but it was nothing special. He train wrecked after every song, or sometimes he would just fade one song out and put the next one on. I don't remember hearing ONE clear mix. The funny thing is that the crowd would cheer every time he faded one song out to put the other one on. I didn't really understand why. It was embrassing.
A couple songs that were "ok" that he played were:
1. Nalin & Kane- Beachball
2. You're Not Alone
Those are a couple old skool songs that I used to like, which was cool to hear in a club. He didn't play "Till I come". I was kinda hoping he would though, just to see how that song would sound at a club. lol (why not, the rest of the stuff was cheesey anyway).
Swedish Egil is not my style at all, I don't wanna waste energy typing more shit. He looks EXACTLY like one of my uncles though! Damn, hehe
Kristina Sky came on and played like 2 songs after ATB, she looked so happy up there.
Anyway, nice seeing everyone last night!
GODDAM, I can't wait to see Desyn next friday. I need my house music fix after last night!
p.s. #9 DJ in the world my ass!

haha
i guess it was a good thing i was drinking last night then
oh i forgot to ask, anyone know what his set up was?
i wouldnt expect much from atb as a dj. listen the the dj in the mix and u can tell why.
hes such a great artist/producer though. atleast in my opinion
As hard as this is to say seeing how he is my favorite Producer, It was bad news bears for ATB, I was not into his set at all. I even went up to the loft to get some house, which sounded so so good for some odd reason, even though the dj was iffy. A well at least i know, but i am kickin myself now for not going to Dave Seamen.
anyone get to hear carlos' set? i was supposed to go to see him but i couldn't make it.

@ this thread.. why did you even go?
I love how poeple just show so much respect to the DJ's/producers who have been around forever, and who have produced trance almost ten years ago that poeple are still listening to this day.
If you dont like trance.. stfu and go dance with with bad boy bill, because he's like.. hot, and thats what counts right?

And I will admit that Marrakech is one of my favorite tracks ever...
I don't agree with everything Julia says.
ATB is defenetily not for the hardcore. He's as commercialised as you can get. I don't remember hearing him wreck at all.
His mixing was good, his trackselection was a rollercoaster. Sometime he would play good stuff, others, BLAH!. Shit, he had me dancing a lot.
UNLIKE most any other DJ I've seen at Spundae, HE PULLED THE BIGGEST CROWD I'VE SEEN TO DATE. I wasn't there for Armin, so I'm not counting that. Both the MAIN ROOM and the SIDE ROOM were filled close to capacity and it stayed like that until he was done. That casued it to get really hot in there.
There was so many girls there, I couldn't belive I was at Spundae. Hehehehe Not only that, but there was quiete a few topless girls walking around with just pastees on their nipples, others in just lingerie, and many wearing hot skirts. Last night was a different crowd.

Oh and no fucking way did atb trainwreck.. sorry i dont believe that, maybe some poeple just need to take their ear plugs out

was it just me or did he play a remix of saltwater (by chicane?)?
lots of oldies but goodies last night
Oh, and the crowd was HUGE! That's the most crowded I've seen Circus since Armin.
I think he made it to top 10 because of the tracks he produced and not as a DJ. Same goes to BT.
ATB did a good job IMO. He pulled in a large crowd and majority of the poeple enjoyed his performance. His fans were eating all this up .. when he wanted them to jump .. they did ..
I did not hear any trainwrecking as far as I can remember. His mixing style may just be different than one may be use to. He did seem a little nervous though, but that may be due to the fact that he was spinning only 2 feet away from crazy people! If a dj never spun @ circus before .. when they see the setup .. it can be nerve wrecking enough by itself !
Great night @ Spundae!
