Tech 12 issue
ok wtf. Say you take your tone arm and go to move it parrallel to the ground(like it moves normally while playing). Well typically it moves freely and smooth!
One of my tables is screwed now and I have no clue why. When you do that movement it is much stiffer then it used to be and half way through its range of motion it feels like it gets a much worse for just a little bit, then it goes back to being slightly bad.
This is causing the tone arm to not be able to track smoothly . Itll play a few seconds of the track and skip backwards a bit.(Itll just keep repeating this) Its not the weight, or anti tracking. It is soley due to (the joint) where the tone arm rotates.
Any ideas whats going on with it? I was tempted to pull it apart and look but I decided I should ask first, and see if anyone else has ever had this issue. (The table is about 4 years old)
Thanks
Its the screw on the top of the tonearm that it swivels on.
Turn it slightly counterclockwise and it will be fine.
Happens over time- the screw gradually tightens itself.
Had it happen on turntables in clubs where the sylus suddenly skips half the record- not pleasant!.
Easily fixed.
If its not that it may be the bearing, but id lay money on it being that.
Ill give it a shot! thanks for the info. I really appreciate it.
If it is the bearing, is it expensive to fix?
no- just fiddly. but it wont be. its not old enough!
Awesome! that was the problem!
w00t!
Thanks a bunch.
The top on my 1210mk2 makes it force itself into the rest...the screw on the side makes it stiff
