Smiley DJ [Chilled Uplifting Trance] Sunset 2005 (192 kbps)

Hi all,

1 1/2 year ago, i made a very chilled tune named "Sunset"... because of the bad sound quality and the nice melody im working on this rework which is - in contrast to the original tune - uplifting...

Updated Link:

Finished the tune...

1:58 good change. it just barely makes it. 4:00 good breakdown. good overall sound. 5:00 getting worried about the progression so close to the end, then realize its an 8+ min song. good progression. 7:00 could hear a 303 ripping in the background every other beat maybe. nice finish. I hope to someday be where you're at for sound quality and song progression.

Nice sounds. I think the bass could use some more higher freqs, it sounds a bit muffled with only the lows. Or maybe just another thin layer on top just to add a bit of a touch to it. I'm loving the intro with the piano right now. Sounds very dark and emotional (reminds me of a sunset too ). Nice guitars - perfectly implemented.

4:45 - nice subtle switch from the dark intro to a more uplifting melody. (it's all in the chord progressions)

I like the melody - but I think it should be more dominant. Right now it just sounds like a background - as if it was missing the lead instrument. (gets much better at 6:00 - but that's a bit late in the track) This would work perfectly if it was a vocal track, but right now it feels like something's missing.

This is an awesome track overall. I'd love to have a high bitrate version of it when it's finished.

I can't quite put my finger on it...

A little more melody in the rythmn...a "fuller" sound? Perhaps?

I do like it though, I'll be looking for the final

Sunset 2005

Yeah. I have to agree that overall it is a good solid production. I thought that the choice of not matching the piano keys exactly to the beat with a sequencer (live feel to it) was a very good choice. although in my personal taste for progressive i like to hear ambient sounds in the background that enhances the melody upfront to help one not to solely rely on the songs melody, you were still able to manage with some variations to it (the melody). i was just wondering howlong would you keep that pad in the back for. anyhow, thanks for the awesome track

Posted by S-Tune on Dec-14-2005 20:54:

Thanks @serginka...

I think, i will change the mainpart, add some fx, mix it better and try it @ some labels...

ah mr s-tune!

i d/loaded this a few days ago but forgot! still loving nightflight over the atlantic by the way! beautiful tune

to the point..

not a chill out track.. cool!

very pro sounding. build seems a bit long imo.

break.. i like the sounds. i can hear your chill influence in there. your really great at emotion in tracks. piano makes me wanna cry its so moving! lovely stuff indeed..

beat back.

oh this is good! the atmosphere is second to none. i love the bassline and the way it plays. its very non standard in notation. kinda catches you off guard.

6;00 - i really like this all round. lovely track indeed!

thanks for reminding me you were here! and if you have time id love this and nightflight as 320k versions. your music moves me!

Thanks for your feedback!

Well, ill send you a 320 kbps-version when it is finished...

Found a label for "Nightflight" + "Flying with Sunset", they are going to be digitally released at Bonzai/Elemental (wanted to announce this when they are available )

Cool track, very chill feeling, cool ambient sounds and nice melodies. I too think it could sound a bit more full, maybe some more effects. Overall i enjoyed it, but maybe you could use a more prominent and recognizable lead imo (that guitar in the break sounds great, i wish you used it also in the climax). Good luck with your other tracks at Bonzai btw. colleague .

good on ya mate!

i always kept an eye out for your stuff on ta - its that good. nightflight is an absolute diamond and deserves more than a digital release. you need to put together and album for a chilled out cd release my friend! you found a label? the label should have found you!

This is an updated version...

What do you think about mixing/mastering?

Thanks for your feedback!

Cheers S-Tune

Posted by Romi on Dec-21-2005 05:56:

You have more of that guitar now in the climax am i right? Sounds much better now imo. The second climax is a bit of an overkill i think, it maybe should be better with just one climax. (Oh well, this is cool also, i will use that kind of structure in my remix then ). Mastering is ok imo. Cool track, i like it even more now.

-Ron

ps. pm'd you!

Hi

Thanks very much for the link
I've just purchased a copy of Flying With Sunset (Original Mix)
wicked track, but loved the Sunset 2005 to be honest I've put
that track as my favorite of the yr, been playing it non stop...
i must of downloaded it a while back from here but posted an ID
for it on this site...lol didn't know who it was by

Cheers mate and keep it up...awesome tracks

can you keep us posted on the completion of Sunset 2005, would much appreciate the complete tune.

Posted by e-x-p on Mar-16-2006 19:47:

Hey mate,

I Bought both 'Nightflight' and 'Flying with Sunset' after hearing
'Sunset 2005' if you haven't done so 'BUY THEM NOW' seriously
I have been blown away by the tracks from S-tune and rate his music highly.
I'm not that good at discribing tracks but will give it a go for all that hasn't experienced the emotional journey through S-tune's music.

Sunset 2005 has been my top trance tune of the yr, great trancer with an amazing build up and then the piano breakdown just sweeps in and hits you, you almost feel as though you are seeing and feeling the Sunset, for me this moves me in a way i've not heard, it's very moving and emotional. I give 'Sunset 2005' a 10/10 and would love to see this released and feel it would be played amost the top DJ's.

'Flying with Sunset' is on more of a Chilled trance vibe, it's very atmospheric with lots of emotion and feeling. If you don't like Chilled out music but love trance, no doubt you will still love this one, the breakdown on this is very moving and soft, the rift and piano work very well, also has a very soft guitar sound in there too (I think). This grabs you right from the start and takes you on an emotional ride, would say this is an ideal Ibiza track, can imagine sitting there at Cafe Del Mar watching the sun rise in the early hrs. 10/10

'Nighflight' is another that is more on a chilled trance vibe, but a bit more intense than 'Flying with Sunset' not my fav of the tracks but no less of an awesome track, a haunting slowed down beat with rifts and what i can only discribe as a soft stringed guitar with a flight navigater sample coming in over the top.
S-tune really knows how to express emotion and feelings in his music and this takes you on an intense ride.
I am a little disapointed though with the ending, it doesn't fade it just gets cut off, so not very proffesional sounding so for that I give it a 9/10

Keep up the good work though mate and well done for the label release
but you deserve to be up there with the best.

Hey S-Tune,

Thanks for letting me know this was finished! got a label lined up yet? or is Bonzai/Elemental gonna snap it up?
Anyway wicked new sound to the '2005' version sounding new and revamped and just in time for the summer eh! wicked summer tune is this, 2005 version sounded alot darker and heaver but '2006' has a fresher more happier and vibrant feel to it, maybe in my opinion too much, i liked the '2005' sound (more darker and meaner, had feeling)
but i'm sure it's gonna be big, well done mate, you've produced yet another cracker, keep it up and keep me posted on it's progression.

Posted by Four_On_Four-er on Apr-12-2006 23:49:

Well, I like BOTH chillout and trance, so this really hits the spot.

Just listened to the 2006 version:

I love watching sunsets... thanks for a track that reminds me that I've not taken the time to do so in far too long.

The choir pads in the background are actually not cheesy in this case. I love the whole vibe and feel of the piece. The mood is powerful, and almost sad.

Beautiful!

Posted by Gladius on Apr-13-2006 09:10:

yep, this is brilliant stuff. forgot a bit about it, so I kinda rediscovered it now. I've always been a huge fan of your work. Tunes like yours are the only reason I still listen to trance.
cheers man, you made my day!
keep it up!

btw, nice reviews exp!
