Ronaldinho - The greatest of all time??

What does everyone think? I haven't seen Pele or Maradona do things with a ball that Ronaldinho can do... this guy is a freak.
And let's not forget that in Pele's day, defence's were not as good, defenders would simply blindly dive in for a tackle, where as today defenders are a lot smarter and will jock their opponents, yet Ronaldinho can still tear defences apart.

So do you think Ronaldinho is better than the greats of the 70's and 80's?

Posted by The_G0dfather on Dec-14-2005 00:41:

he's the best i've seen so far, i'm from '85 so i also couldnt judge their skills completely, but from all the footage i've seen, they didnt seem more impressive than Ronaldinho, only thing is that nowadays, they get to be judged by their complete career, which is atm more impressive than Ronaldinho's

No he isnt.

At the moment he cannot be the greatest player of all time no way but I would say he has the potential to be, need to wait until the end of his career, then maybe - remember u are comparing him against legends, players of a generation (Pele, Maradona, Best, Eusebio, Alfredo Di Stefano, Puskas, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Puskas) all who have finished their glirting careers.....

pfft ronaldinho hadnt acheived closed to what this man has when he was that age .... u wanna talk about greatest players ever... give it another 3-4 years and itl be ronnie who?? plus hes british so every bit of skill he has will be counted as double

That made me laugh hard....what has he done since the Euro?

Answer: Nothing

Ronaldinho is one hell of a player, unique and the best one in the world. He's only like 25 years old and got a long time too prove that he's the best one ever.

He's not the best atm, there have been better ones in their own time when they played. But I would say that Ronaldinho most likely is going to be the biggest one ever, and it feels awesome too watch him play. He radiates such a positive attitude on the pitch and I don't no one really can be compared too him right now.

He's the king of todays football, but he's got a way up til' the very best of all time, and like I said, He's still only like 25 years old, So there's a lot of time left.

i think hes done a hell of a job over the time hes been with us ... its just that the team as a whole hasnt been playing well and therefore the silverware avoids him ... he did win the young player of the year award ... rooneys definately going to be the player to watch at germany next year.... already the media has touted him as the player on whom englands chances depend upon so itl be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure .

on a side note...doesnt ronaldinho look like jar jar from star wars

I'll vote when he does a chilena or some other flying kick variation.

Man Rooney isnt in Ronaldinho's league, Ronaldinho had won the World Cup at 21 ffs, does that compare with wot Rooney has done??? Yes I think so!!!!! and eclipses it!!

Dinho must:

- Win a World Cup himself and make a great performance in another one (like Diego and Pel).

or

- Win a great number of continental club titles being dominant(like Di Stefano, Cruyff...).

He's in the way to be considered the 5th great, but the way is long...

Yeh I think he will b brilliant in germany but I dont think he is gonna win loads of continental crowns at Barca I dont think they are strong enuff in defence, Chelsea showed if u can contain them and hit them on the break they can b beaten.

Posted by zoric on Dec-14-2005 12:47:

Barcelona is strong enough too win the biggest titles in the world. Sure, their defence isn't Chelseas, But they've got much better offensive players, especially the three on top (Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Messi, together with benchplayers like Henrik Larsson, Giuly and even Maxi Lopez that isn't given much time too play).

Football has changed over the years and got much more agressive, it's hard to achieve such big things like Maradona in the WC 86 or Pel in Sweden 58'..

Ronaldinho is terrifick too watch, and it's really obvious that he's in love with the game.

He's probably going to be the best one, If not, then he's gonna' end up together with Cruyff and the rest of the guys.

well...there hasn't been an international tourney since the Euro so....

Horse Face is a great player no doubt, but wait until his career is over until you start the comparisons to the greats like Pele and Maradona and Best. Don't forget Bobby Moore either.

Rooney has been on form and he is one of the best players of the League so far this season. He has scored 6 goals and has made 6 assists in 15 games...not bad for a youngster.

No comparison with Lampard and Ronaldinho tho...

Oh god Smitty once I saw you post here I thought you would say...Ronaldinho is no Tim Cahill

Rooney is good but he has not done that much in the league just only stellar in the Euro...if were gonna go on league preformances than we can name tons of players that are good like Ronaldinho

Much more aggresive????!!!!??? It doesnt seem aggresive when u loook at players like Totti, Josi Mari and Beckhma, a small gust of wind would blow them over... Football was far more aggressive in the past, its barely a contact sport now......

I still dont think Barca will win it
