e and s stylus
whats the difference?
i have the blue ortofons and need to get some more end bits.......
E is an elliptical stylus, which is an oval shape. Fits in the groove better and gives better sound, but costs more.
S is a sperical stylus, which is spherical (funny about that). Doesn't sit in the groove quite as well, but is cheaper.
S is all you need for at home stuff. With the Ortofons you know you can interchange the styli types right? Just cos the carts are the DJ Pro doesn't mean you have to use the same styli. I've currently got Nightclub S's on my Pro Silver carts. Gives you a bit of flexibility depending on budget and sound needs.
do not forget:
sperical:

If you scratch, spherical is the way it has to be (bitt lesser sound quality)
spherical needles are also better for old records in a not so good state...
elliptical:

elliptical gives better sound quality and lesser record destruction, buth it's no good for any types of scratching
also elliptical needles will be more sensitive for dust in the grooves because they have more contact with the edges of the groove.
thx for aboutdj.nl for the pictures.
