"If someone were to deny the existence of God... or prophets and religion, they would not bother him. "However, if someone were to deny the myth of the Jews' massacre, all the Zionist mouthpieces and the governments subservient to the Zionists tear their larynxes and scream against the person as much as they can," he said. He returned to his earlier theme that Europe should shoulder the responsibility for a Jewish state. "If you [Europeans] committed this big crime, then why should the oppressed Palestinian nation pay the price? "This is our proposal: give a part of your own land in Europe, the US, Canada or Alaska to them so that the Jews can establish their country," he said. Since his election in June 2005, Mr Ahmadinejad has taken a more hardline stance towards Israel in public than his predecessors, and has recently stepped up his anti-Israel rhetoric. Israel's spokesman said the Iranian president's latest remarks reflected a "perverse vision of the world held by this regime". BBC Tehran correspondent Frances Harrison says the Iranian press has endorsed the president's views, calling them logical and less passive than the approach of previous Iranian governments. Condemnation The foreign minister of Germany criticised Mr Ahmadinejad's remarks as "shocking and unacceptable" and warned they could influence negotiations with Iran over its nuclear programme. "I cannot hide the fact that this weighs on bilateral relations and on the chances for the negotiation process," Frank-Walter Steinmeier said. German officials are scheduled to meet their Iranian counterparts on 21 December for the next round of talks over Iran's nuclear ambitions. Talks between Tehran and three European Union nations - Germany, France and the UK - have been deadlocked over Iran's renewed efforts to produce nuclear fuel. The EU renewed its condemnation of Mr Ahmadinejad's position, saying it had no place in civilised political debate.

He can join Hugo Chavez and Robert Mugabe in my list of people to be throat punched.

And his country is developing a nuke.

Typical middle eastern hard-liner. Why so shocked?

This rhetoric goes over with only about 1% of the Iranian population. 60% of all Iranians are now under the age of 30, yes that's right under the age of 30. They are a direct result of Khomeni's call (during the 80's) for people to bear children so that they can go to war. Ofcourse the war ended and now the country is full of young people who want freedom, jobs, a future they just don't see it the way westerners do. They are blinded by the government with money. They get no interest loans to start up business's, buy a house, start a family.

The oil money has made the government so wealthy that it can afford to sedate the population with cash. Things will change, eventually the people will wake up, but be mindful of your contempt, as always with all countries, the government doesn't represent the hearts and minds of the people in totality.

As for nukes, nobody should be allowed to have them. Personally I think North Korea is a much greater danger, with nukes and a million man army, but nobody pays any attention there.

Well, there's usually a motive when somebody outright says stuff like this.

Personally I think Iran wants to be the leader of some sort of global extremist anti American anti Israel Islam group or something.
With increasing polarization between extremist Muslims (and their proliferation all over the world).

I've yet to see any democratic movement worthy of note in Iran. It seems that whenever someone tries something, that person gets... quiet. Even after Khatami the reformer, what significant change did it occur in Iran?

North Korea isn't going to do anything stupid, unless situation drastically changes.
China is too busy getting rich to let Kim Jong Il spoil it.
