How will you fare...
Should there be a STRIKE?!?
All I know is I have finals starting Friday, which happens to be the day that the strike would begin if no agreement is reached. So, I dont know if this is a good or a bad thing. I just want these tests over with.
Based on how strict professors are with exams i wouldn't take any chances. go to school an hour to two hours early to avoid the inevitable traffic that this strike might cause.
i'd take the lirr into the city since i'm close to the forest hills station. i want to see a strike just for the hell of it. one day, please! especially since our office holiday party is tomorrow. get crunked and just not show up friday, word

I'll probably take taxis to school and work as long as they're not cancelled. Jeez, can't wait to get a car
. Even though I don't think they'll strike (or if they do it won't be for that long), maybe it's time to see a change in the transit system. It's a shame that NYC transit can't somehow be privatized or at least slowly transitioned into being automated so that we don't have to deal with stuff like this every couple of years
. I mean come on, either you want your 8% raise every year OR you want cleaner bathrooms. You don't get both. That's just asking for too much

from a non-involved point of view and im not sure if there is any corrolation between TWC and MTA but what the fuck
HELLO WE ARE PAYING $2 to ride the subway WTF? How much more money do people want shit...whether its the mta or the twc or the employees or whatever the fuck it is, geez everyone wants more money, no one is going to want to live in nyc anymore...what the fuck
oh and im definitely not coming to work if there is a strike, even though i live like 40blocks from work.
well i ll say this...
im hoping that there is a strike. yea its going to suck major balls but it needs to be done do you see what the heads of the mta are doing not only to the customers but to their own workers? thing about it they cry broke charge us 2.00 for a fare don t really pay their employees any loot but yet when you check their books they have a billon dollars in surplus figure that one out. another thing is you must understand (brian ) that this goes on every 2 yrs so you always hear bout this. on top of that think about this the other city workers got raises ie fire an police departments specially when 9/11 happened they milked that like no other (what was it 17% out of i forgot how many yrs) teachers were working without a contract for two years yet when they received their contracts they were compensated yet mta workers don t get nowhere near that amount you saw a proposal by the mta officals 3% first yr and 2% after now does that make sense? i think not especially when out of all the city jobs out there mta pulls in the most revenue (through tourists/regular commuter etc)yet always cry broke i'm sorry if i sound a little bias but all the shaddy shit that mta pulls they need to be put in place and just remember nxt yr i won t be surprised that there will be another raise in fare but again just my .02
i hope the same thing happens that happened a few years ago when they tried to go on strike and they were gonna fine them. or break up their union like Reagan did with the pilot's union. Bloody imbeciles. don't do ANYTHING and complain. 'cept bus drivers, i give them props.

As Jay said before the MTA is screwing us and there employees. At least the employees have the balls to stand up for what is right!!!! Shit the "straphangers" should do the same!!!!!!! |
i think she got it confused originally the plan that mta gave an im sure u all heard it was 3% first yr then 2% the nxt yr now does that make sense?

Most of the time you ask them something they tell you to look on the map, you buy a metrocard and they give you the wrong one and they claim they did their job right. Why? Cause they can't mess up. This has happened to me and everyone i know MANY times. They don't deserve anything they are asking for. And as soon as Sharpton joined this little event you know it's bullshit. Most unions are rediculase. And the MTA should be ripped apart just like Reagan did with the pilot's union, as i said earlier. |
I specifically said that I don't mind bus drivers who actually do their jobs. People who sit inside a booth AND DO NOTHING, do not have a motivation to complain! They are getting a good deal as it is. They got their 3+percent raise. Bus drivers aren't going anywhere because we'll always need them, at least in the next 50 years. Train operators are staying where they are, too. So, who did we miss that NEEDS a raise? And you're talking about performance based. Please tell me how you are going to evaluate a dumbass in a booth telling you look at the map or literally handing you your metrocard?

The MTA and its nepotism-favoring BOARD just sucks -- they don't seem to know how to properly deal with the surplus (giving $1.00 rides to passengers...halfassed attempt...couldnt' they direct those monies toward improving some of the conditions in some train stations/2nd Avenue Railroad Line. Can't blame the union and employees for wanting their fair share, considering the shiet they have to deal with on a daily basis.

| Originally posted by phuzzyfish12 So WTF ever happened to you? try and get a booth workers number and she shot you down. How often do you ride the subway. Do I like the way things are right now HELL NO!!!!!!!!! of course things could be better. I agree that it should be a performance based raise but that's not there only concern. These workers go to work everyday in a place that is unsafe!!! They get no respect and they keep this city moving. Even the ones that "give you the wrong MetroCard". I take the 1 train from South Ferry every morning for work and the line from the booth is huge with TOURISTS!!!!!!!!!!! Now if that isn't hell on earth I don't know what is and I have never seen these people say look at the map, they open the map and show these people ALL the places they want to go....ALL of them. They way you have reacted is way negative, like too negative. Chill the fuck out!!! |
Firstly, you can just toss Lepanto's remarks out the window, hes a idiot and his post show that..
I believe something needs to change, they need more reasons to keep working their jobs. I know i wouldnt work at a place where i didnt have a anual salery increase.
If they do strike tomorrow they get fine 25k the first day and 50 the next day, the fine keeps doubling along with fining the union and large sum of money. I really do hope they strike as i said if this is what it takes for things to change so be it.. Ill walk my happy ass to school tomorrow.
