Purchasing Equipement Need Advice
I read most of the threads on here and I have made the decision to purchase CD Turntables instead of Vinyls for financial purposes. What I need now is advice on which brand and type of turntable to buy and what kind of mixer and software. All advice and opinions are welcome, thank you.
Low Budget: Pioneer CDJ 200's x2
Mixer: Go to a DJ Store, DO NOT BUY BEHRINGER MIXERS, OR NUMARK! Buy a decent middle range one. What you like.
whats wrong with Numark?

| Originally posted by n3lly I might go to a DJ store to check out various mixers but i wouldn't buy one there. You'll get way better deals online, especially around christmas time i'd guess. A few people go on about the Numark DXM 06 being good etc. That might be a good place to start. But it all depends on how serious you are and what budget you have. The more you pay the better you get, that's a very rough rule though. Don't get anything cheap anyway as it'll just break eventually and you'll just have to spend more money replacing it ![]() HTH nelly |
keep dust away from it and it wil be fine, people just dont know how to take care of there gear.
Well everyone slates gemini, and ive had my gemini ps 650i mixer from new for 4 years now and its still got the original faders, sounds amazing from the balanced outputs after all this time aswell. Once i get the pioneer efx 500 in the new year ill eventually upgrade to a mixer with send and returns. Just purchase wisely and look after your equipment and enjoy it all the same.

someone mentioned the pioneer cdj-200 as low budget...while i agree that obviously they are low priced, they low not "low budget" gear at all. i feel absolutely no need to upgrade from my 200's. they have every feature any beginner could ever want, and probably a lot more. i've had mine for 6 months and i'm still figuring great features out.

NUMARK ?
i cant complain about numark at all. I had one a dxm 01 mixer a few years back and it wokred great. I currnently am spinning on Numark tt-500 and damn am i impressed. they have very high torque and a sturdy as hell.. I tripped over a stair carring one in my apt and it took the fall like a pro.. I have heard the tt-200's suck , but like one person said i dont own the 200's so i cant judge..but i will say theirs nothing wrong with numark
my dxm06 died in a year.
both my faders are gone, and my cross fader leaks.

and im too poor to buy something else
I have a dxm01 and its damn good for its price.
The only thing is that since numark released the ipod mixer their ranking as a pro dj manafacturer has gone way down (or atleast it has in my books)
