ROMi - What a Lovely Afternoon (Full)
Hi,
This is a new track i'm working on. It's again in my usual dreamy style, a bit more happy melodies in this one, well i'm in a very good mood at the moment, so that's why my melodies getting more happy i guess
. I hope you like it so far. Programs used: Logic, Atmosphere, V-station, Blue and some drum and effect samples.
UPDATED: Finished full version now available here:
Full Version
I've always liked your stuff and this song is just great. And aptly named - reminds me of some nice afternoons I've had. The lead synth is nice and the melody is pretty cool. I like the vox fx too. Well done.
-Heather
Thx for the comment Heather, i'm gonna work on it some more this afternoon i think
.

nice intro.
hmm nice lead in the break.
woot this is pretty nice man.
The break got to have some bass in it.
It's too empty on the low end.
I like the percs.
Nice breaks. Unexpected as usuall.
You generally need more low end on this track.
Imo you miss some more atmospheric elements.
It didn't do much for me,
Decent.
6.5/10,
Omer.
Nice track overall. Lead is cool, melody is nice. Pads sound a bit pushed back.
Break start isn't to strong I think with the lower keys in front. Nice sounding, tho some sounds are very raw, like the bass and lead, maybe you could try to refine them.
Good work Romi.

Hey Romi
Mastering and mixing is excellent in this track, everything sounds where it should. The song is quite dreamy, but It needs a more memorable hook to it...perhaps you weren't going for that kind of track. Good groove with the beat bass and percs.
However I do feel it sounds pretty similar to your last songs, same lead sounds, pads etc, maybe try some new sounds, don't want to end up like probspot
Thx for the reply Ricky. First of all, i really like these kind of dreamy tracks, i sometimes make more experimental tracks (check out my tracks under my alias Defiance), but when i look at the reactions i get from people (and labels) this type of trance is the sound they like the most (and me too btw). And no, this is yet another lead i used for this one, never used it before
.
Hey Ron,
U indeed used a different lead sound and also you are starting to become better with your breakbuilding (the breakbeat again is very nice). Also for the first time I really think you have managed to get a track very good masteringwise. A lot of clarity, sounds all nicely in place (perhaps the bass could be a tad more prominent).
I do hear the little differences in this one compared to your other tracks (the bpm seems to be a bit higher for example) and I like it that you have made a more happy track. It doesn't do a lot for me melodywise though and I agree with RickyM that the track could use a more memorable hook. As soon as the sample is over I have already forgotten the melody or specific elements of the track.
One small piece of advice for you though, I think you have posted 3 or 4 tracks in the past 4 weeks here on TA (correct me if I am wrong). Perhaps you could focuse a bit more one creating one superb track with a killer hook instead of 4 typical Romi tracks. I think if you continue like this more people will start telling you that you sound the same all the time (which is not an attack in any way, just an observation). YOu have created a nice musical coat which has fitted you well over the past months. Now with your productional skills it is time for the next step. I am curious if you are capable of taking it.
Cheers!
I love the intro, very nice. Great blend of sounds here. The break, is beautiful, great job. Enjoying this man. I love it... LOVE IT...!!!
Awesome job man, im speechless!
William
Thx again for the replies and tips.
I'm having a lot of inspiration the last weeks, so i post a lot of unfinished track samples here because i like oppinions for my tracks to make them better, not for dozens of ooohs and aaahs reviews. I think this forum is excellent for that, because here are a lot of talented people who could give me some good advice. And well, i'm sorry for people who want full finished versions (you can allways ask though
), but i don't post them here directly anymore, i have my reasons, but a sample gives also a nice inpression i think.
Still have some things to improve for this one, including mastering (could be a bit better imo) and effects and such. Maybe there's more people with tips.
-Ron
New preview is up, enjoy, or not

ps. To all: Have a wonderfull new year!
nice melodic style as usual from you,
keep it up man !

Lets have a listen.. Hmm, nice loop you used for the percussion, above and beyond used it to for a remix.
Intro is very predictable, the sounds that you used in combination with the melodies.
I think now im headed to the break. Funny melody, wel fitted for that track title.
Take a look at your mastering. The kick misses some sublow frequencies while it messes up with the bass. Most of the sounds are very tiny, especially the melody and the percussion.
Most of the percussion is laid in the high frequencies, just where also the lead hangs out.
Overall, it is a nice track but it did not attracked me.
Got this one finally finished today, so here's the full version:

Enjoy the listen
awesome stuff man, awesome.
Thanks for your comment Joey, i'm glad you like it
.
i love this dude...you make good stuff
Thx for your kind words, i really apreciate it
.
Felt I should do the song more justice and do a more comprehensive review :-P
The bassline comes in just a little bit abrupt, but it's definitely really driving and pumping. Sounds great. The squarish instrument sounds pretty cool as well as that other instrument which I can't pin the name down right now.
Interesting transition...I transition just doesn't ring a bell with me...the bassline mostly. I don't know if you know this but the break really reminds of the game Deus Ex. Is this a classic TS404 I'm hearing? Haha. Ok so onward, the song is absolutely great. Very melodic and driving. The bassline change for the second repetition of the melody sounds kind of weird but that's up to you. Percussion keeps the tempo and rhythm going well.
The song is great man. I love you work dude seriously. Keep it up!
Thanks again for your more comprehensive review azndragon0613
