-- Getting a warp out of a record..

Thumbs up Getting a warp out of a record..

I saw this thread back a few months ago, but I forget what was in it, and I didn't see it on any of the pages here.

Anyways, we've all seen it before. Warp in your favorite record, and adding the cardinal rule of DJing--the warp is always on the side you want to play. It never fails.

Anyways, I know that you can never completely cure this, but I'm looking to get it at least enough that it'll spin up fast on my decks, instead of me having to finger my way around and try to get the speed right. It can be disasterous for mixing.

Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh, and while we're at it, what's everyone recommend to clean records as well, and to wipe them down before playing?

'warp' only has 10 results.

ma first search came up wae 5!

but anyway, i found really hot water, a chess board & a pile of books works for me! just pour the water on, lightly shape the vinyl and stick it on the board with a box full of books on top of it for about a week!

If you put the record in a crate absolutely packed with records it can help abit but if you have dirt between the covers and the vinyl it may leave indentations making it worse so be careful. Also try under a pile of books or anything heavy.

I had a track a while ago that got warped due to a heat thing...

Anyway... I placed the record between 2 towels and then placed it on an ironing board. I heated the iron to a low temp then just gently ran it over the warped area....

It fixed the problem.... its not perfect but it plays way better now

Its worth a shot
