Favourite Horror Movies

I find that the older they are the better in most cases.

Child's Play
Event Horizon
Friday the 13th
Hellraiser 1 and 2
In the Mouth of Maddness
IT
Nightmare on Elm Street 1 and Wes Craven's New Nightmare
the People Under the Stairs
Ravenous
Scream
the Serpent and the Rainbow
the Shining
the Thing
Wishmaster

God how all the sequels were just plain horrible.

Prince of Darkness
Poltergeist (the first one)
Bram Stoker's Dracula
The Howling
The Evil Dead
Amityville Horror (the original)
Lord of Illusions
Salem's Lot
Alien
The Hand
What Lies Beneath
Stir of Echoes
The Shining
Interview with the Vampire

All I think of so far...

Forgot those, although Alien and the Evil Dead aren't really horror to me.

Stir of Echoes is probably my favourite horror movie of all time though, I can't believe I forgot it.

WOW! This is a thread for me! Okay...lemme get my rest and think of all of them!!!

One of my classic faves though...the ORIGINAL Psycho! I LOVE Alfred Hitchcock!

Also...IT!! I saw this movie when I was like...I dunno 8! I remember I taped it off TV and it was REALLY late at night, and there were all these phone sex commercials! So my mom had to edit the tape for me! Haha Funny...I still like clowns too hehe

Just wanted to say yes those were great horror movies.

Some favorites, can't think of that many, brain memory mushy right now but

Audition
Suicide Circle
The Omen (loved the freaky music)

Evil Dead was supposed to be a serious horror movie and well, we all know where that lead to...

Alien not horror???
I know it's Sci-Fi but come on! That was (and still is) a great horror flick!

Yea, I can't believe I almost forgot about it too.
I'm going to have to rent (or better yet, buy) that one over the holidaze...

The Amityville Horror (the 70s one with James Brolin)
Stir of Echos (in my honest opinion WAY better then the 6th Sense)
and all things Vincent Price

Event Horizon is the only movie that has really scared the shit out of me.

Oh God Lisa... that movie scared the pants off me when i was 7 or 8. I stayed up watching it with my sisters and some of there friends. I couldn't sleep at all for a few days after that. I still watch it about once a year to refresh my memory.

Not so scarey compared to most movies these days.

People under the Stairs is fucking brilliant...I laughed my ass off throughout the entire thing (a sign of a really good "bad" horror/thriller movie).

I agree with Fir3start3r, Evil Dead is great too...although I think Interview with a Vampire was *horribly* miscast.

Anyone who found IT to be scary needs to read the book...it's less scary and more disturbing. Stephen King is one f'd up mofo

Poltergeist was good too...but the all-time freakiest one that I still can't watch alone late at night, lol:

The Exorcist

Posted by Cribby on Dec-19-2005 23:28:

Nightmare on Elm Street series has always been my favourite...but nowadays I'm way too hard to scare :S Would love to check out some jap horror flicks though

Has anyone ever seen Dolls?!

Posted by Fir3start3r on Dec-20-2005 00:54:

Oh snap, I almost forgot!

The Exorsism of Emily Rose

If you thought the Exorsist was freaky...

Regardless, both Alien and Evil Dead are total classics.

I've been meaning to buy new horror movies, that is definately at the top of my list.
