Death Cab For Cutie - Soul Meets Body (Stan Void Bootleg Mix)

Hey all,

I think this might be my first post here under this name, I used to post in the music producers section under the alias 'en2t'. But anyway, this is a bootleg rework of one of my recent favorites in the alternative rock world. I think DCFC's sound goes real well with a trance backdrop, and I want to know what you guys think.

hey man,

just listened to this.. sounds really nice.

i really like the lead that you wrote for the track. its very dynamic and catchy.

percussion, bassline, kick, i dunno, everything sounds great. don't really know what else to comment on except that i'd wouldn't mind getting a copy to use in a set. lemme know if thats possible.

that would be possible. If any dj's want a full copy of this to spin, just PM me.

i agree with tranceinchink, this is a great track!

nice to see you around here again

Stantheman!

I'm not really a DCFC fan to be honest, but I love what you've done with this track. The vocals sit in there surprisingly well! No complaints on any other points either. Melody is good too.

Really enjoying this one! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Cool track mate! Definitly enjoying the vocals in this. Also seems to have an REM feel to it, which is a good thing.

And any word/news on your OLD tracks (your plummet remix) because I really want it!

Posted by StanVoid on Dec-20-2005 22:17:

thanks for the replies so far guys!

TOR: thanks man, i'm glad to be back around

Fundamental: Yup, his voice sure sounds good with a trance backdrop. Did you know that DCFC's lead singer is also the same guy singing in Postal Service songs?

Rob: Thanks for the positive feedback. My older tracks can probably be found on the DC++ hub, but other than that, I might try to put them up online one last time but not sure when that'll happen.

Didn't know that now!

I've listened to this tune many-a-time today. I'm surprised you haven't had more feedback for it to be honest.

I guess most people just haven't heard of Death Cab...

So, did you cut the vocals straight from the original track then?

Posted by Bassaka on Dec-21-2005 01:12:

Cool track dude. I'm definately digging this. Very well blended and mastered.

Great job.

Sounds good..except for the kickdrum which makes the whole production sound like 10 years old
Must be the analogue touch it got hehe.

Else its great

Posted by Since Forever on Dec-21-2005 22:02:

Yeah, Im diggin this to and I'm also suprised so few people have commented on it. I really really like the part where the chorus kicks in at the end. I think this would be a freakin amazing track if you played the chorus at least once earlier in the track.

Posted by StanVoid on Dec-22-2005 02:26:

nice to see more replies from you guys

Fundamental: I used samples that I cut straight from the original mp3. I had to equalize them to bring out the vocals more, but that's about it.

Bassaka: Thanks! I'm def proud of the mastering on this one myself.

dEEkAy: what's wrong with that kick drum! lol Weird, it doesn't make me think of 10 years back.

Since Forever: I agree that the best part of the song comes out when the chorus kicks in. But it's all about build-up, so I purposely left it to be only in the last part of the song -- as sort of a climax.

Hey man, this sounds really nice.

I'm not a huge death cab fan, but i appreciate their stuff. Isnt this the track with the musical notes flying all around? I think i saw it on VH1 a few nights ago.

Anyway, everything sounds real nice. The vocals sit in there very nicely, but may be a bit too 'telephone-y'. I agree it'd be nice to hear the chorus once earlier in the track.

I'd love to get a full version to play if possible.

Stan Void = en2t
Didn't know.

Congrats on Montavo, it's a great track.
Your old work was very good too.

Thanks for the share, very good track.

Posted by StanVoid on Dec-22-2005 21:40:

Keep the comments coming, guys!

tylerc: I do agree about the telephony sound of the vocals, but I kind of intended it ... I like it

Romain: Thanks, glad you like both Montavo and this new track.

Stan.

Nice Track, Cant comment too good on sound quality since i got it playing on crappy speakers, and its quite cause its late here. But I like what I hear, and the melody rocks, I would love to play this in sets if you dont mind.

Posted by D.J.Animus on Dec-23-2005 00:34:

I must say. Great choice for this mix. It sounds awsome.

Posted by AstralNrg on Dec-23-2005 01:13:

great remix, i enjoyed the sounds you used in this mix.

Posted by StanVoid on Dec-23-2005 19:56:

Lunar Phase 7: Really glad you like the melody in the track, mate

D.J.Animus: Yup, thanks. DCFC really fit the trance sound, that's why I chose to remix this very track.

AstralNrg: Thank you, too

More comments?
Stan.

This track is the best production yet from the highly talented Stanislav Sprogis, aka Stan Void. I thought the track was rich in texture and the bassline was kicking. I especially love special effect on the vocal at 2:47 when Stan put "bala-bala" on repeat and then introduce the Montavo-sque melody. I would suggest doing the same thing, this time with a longer pause, at the climax of the song toward the end, maybe at 6:11 would be an appropriate time to insert the similar effect.

Posted by StanVoid on Dec-24-2005 21:56:

lol why thank you jason

Hey, LOVED the remix of this, timed so well and beat is awesome. I was wondering if I could get a full copy so I could play it in my sets? Preferably like 320k ish?
