In House We Trust

Guvt has been booking only trancers for the last two months or so. It is time to bring in djs like Hernan Cattaneo, Deep Dish, Nic Fanciulli, Paul Woolford and Danny Tenaglia. I can't even recall the last time I went to Guvt. Actually, my last visit to Guvt was on Halloween to see the one and only, Mr. Steve Lawler.

Yeah uh there's other clubs that book those guys.

what about all the local talent week in week out at the drink and gallery? they regularly put headliners to shame!

If they are so great (nothing against them though), why don't they become headliners and travel around the world, and for instance go to Moscow's XIII to spin their great stuff.
Headliners didn't just become headliners. They are exceptional and talented djs who deserved to be world renowned.
Once again, I don't have anything against the local talent.

Fuck that...Guv books house cats and you hear countless people talk about how they were let down.

Manzone & Strong NEVER let down.

Posted by Irishaddict on Dec-20-2005 05:04:

Most of those guys have been here already this year, maybe not all at Guv.

Cattaneo with Oakenfold late August/early September @ Guv.

Deep Dish twice - Freedom (with Fanciulli) on May 24 (with Tenaglia at the Docks the same weekend) and again for Labour of Love.

There's a lot of other DJs that haven't been here as well. At least the ones you have mentioned have made it to Toronto within the year.

Posted by DigiNut on Dec-20-2005 05:10:

System, Boa, and 270 are the house clubs, and personally, I like it that way. I don't want to have to decide between missing a good set and enduring the sardine can that is the Guv.

Anyway, Danny Tenaglia won't be setting foot in the Guvernment for a *long* time, and as for Steve Lawler, I'd rather watch paint dry. Hernan Cattaneo was at the Guv recently and Deep Dish has been here several times. I'd rather see some house DJs that bring in original material, like Desyn Masiello or King Unique.

IbizaGuy, you don't know what you're missing. Hit up the gallery or the drink and the resident DJs will knock your socks off.

Posted by IbizaGuy on Dec-20-2005 05:16:

Yea, Desyn Masiello, forgot to mention his name - great dj
Has he been to TO this year?
It's not for nothing that Steve Lawler has been named "The King of Space (Ibiza)". That title is rearly given to any dj in Ibiza.

Posted by Yohan on Dec-20-2005 05:19:

Yes. King Unique. Bring. NOW.

My point is that Guvt needs to book house headliners more often.

Posted by DigiNut on Dec-20-2005 05:25:

Stevie can pick up whatever nickname he wants - it won't change the fact that his sets make me want to crack my own head open and start throwing pieces of brain tissue at him. Even bojangled I can't enjoy that monotonous, soulless garbage that he insults my intelligence with by calling it house music.

you are entitled to your own opinion.

Posted by IbizaGuy on Dec-20-2005 05:45:

Does anybody like Nicky Fanciulli's style?
It's just makes you dance no matter what mood you're in.
He is going to be in the top 10 one day.

Posted by DigitalMP on Dec-20-2005 05:49:

not if he doesn't make up his mind what he wants to spin.

-1 nic fanciulli

AMEN to that. and not just guv complex, anywhere in the city locals are killin' it. especially this year, man oh man..... ( i gotta mention : dj mute "man, im gonna kill you guys tonight", max q vs dj science "we should do it again", form n funktion "i dont know what the fuck was that but i fuckin' loved it" <--- and thats just some of the dj's from this board that i recall losing my shit to, not to mention some of the veterans of toronto house scene).

btw, Lawler's god.

that is a scientifically proven fact.

bro go to the drink on a regular saturady night and if yer ass is not kicked 3 times by that dirt i.... i dont know, i'll buy you a house

That set at the Gallery of his was far from "monotonous, soulless garbage"

And IbizaGuy...do some homework. There's at least 4-5 worthy spots in this city that play some of the best house you'd ever hear.

Hernan spun there in the last two months and Deep Dish was there in September I believe.

Danny T has been at other clubs, rumour has it that there's more than 1 club out there.

Buahahaha as if talent is equated by popularity. Yeah I'd much rather see Benny Benassi as opposed to a much more talented DJ because gee he's a headliner so I should mindlessly follow them. I mean "headliners didn't just become headliners".

Posted by Ace_of_Spades on Dec-20-2005 16:27:

speaking of house music, we have had great house events at guvernment so far.
never will forget the freedom party at guvernment, nic fanciulli
played some dirty dirty beats and it was a great warm up,and then DeepDish came at 2:30 and spinned till 10AM and i was there dancing the whole time.
to be honest my best parties have been house parties even though i listen to trance more often.
cause for some reason House makes me more happy but trance makes me think about life ..

and being headliners isnt everything.. are you into the music or the parties? because i know some locals that can step alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll over those headliners the guv always brings.. i know alot of headliners who throw really good parties because of the people they atract... usually people like you seeking for big names.. but if you dont wanna listen to the locals.. -->and note.. (there are tons and tons and tons.. and tons..

diversity..

diff venues..

tons of tons of tons...

and tons and tons and tons and tons..

to see.. and they rock) ur missing on alot..

but cool for me.. i got more space to dance
