midi is not audio

but it can be done, if you have quite pure loops of synths without too much reverb and delay and other things going on, melodyne is what you are looking for. go google on it.

if you have an mp3 of a clean separated sound you can just sample that instead of....whatever it is I could make up from the first post.

I'd advise remaking the melodies you want with a midi sequencer. FL Studio can export to midi and there are programs on the internet. One that I used to use was Music Masterworks. Trying to convert an mp3 to midi will not work. Back when I was a newbie, I tried it myself and it takes everything in the song if you know what I mean. Like, every kick, every synth, everything in the song and puts it into one instrument in midi format.

I'd advise you to get the program called WIDI Music Recognition system. It's not the best program (which isn't too hard as there are no good programs to actually do what you'd like them to do), but it offers quite some nice options.

The newest version can recognise patterns by a certain velocity they have, as well as recognise by note length and so on. Makes it a bit easier to recognise a pattern with quite some reverb/delay on it.
