2005 Mix Compilation - 2CD - Lustral - DJ Metatron

2005 Mix CD1 CD2

Ready.. set.. TAKE OFF!!! Haha. Ok, so I haven't been doing nothing the past couple months. I have been very busy with school and work so that's why this compilation has taken a while, but it was worth it. I first got the inspiration for this in November when I was looking at some artwork on gfxartist.com. One image in particular by Martin Bland called Lustral was the muse to my creation. I just got a feeling of the atmosphere in that image and wanted to recreate that image in my head with sound. I new the compilation had to be somewhat epic in proportions and had to give the listener a journey of mind and imagination. I tried to use very atmospheric melodic trance. Each cd moves from more progressive and chill type trance to more intense trance killers. I think Lens - Let the Light In (Jaytech Remix) is my favorite tune in the entire bunch as far as capturing the essence of what I wanted. It's not the most noticeable tune but it's got such a great atmosphere and spirit which I love. Other tunes I particularly enjoy are Velvet by Kosmas, Allucard's mix of Melodica, Red Jewel by Arcane, the Antillas Club Mix of Extraordinary Ways, etc. All of the tunes are special and hold a special place in the compilation. Another really cool one is Daylight by Funabashi. That tune in particular harkens back to the classic trance era for me; gives me such a wonderful feeling. Anyway enjoy the mixes and have a wonderful holiday season.

9. Aalto - Resolution (Original Mix)

Hello Jason,

This looks pretty promising, nice work on the layout and stuff (space quest/old skool space feel with the font ). Made me want to give this a launch. I'll be back with some feedback. Downloading in progress.

Pretty nice mixes both, good track selection as well, I prefer the first mix. Mixing is good.

Biggest issue is mastering. Limitted/compressed way to much, music is loosing detail (thats bad!) and it's clipping. If you stil have the original waves, I'd suggest doing something about that!

Good luck, still nice work.

oh hey, thanks. i didn't notice any problems with the quality. hmm can you point me to specific points where it is clear for you?

always a fan of your mixes, i'll download for sure!

Thumbs up

This sounds like an episode of GDJB by Markus Schulz on his best day. Some people might look down on this comment, but take this as a compliment. Although you put a lot of efforts in your previous sets, I really like these in particular because unlike your others ones, this one did not put me to sleep. In addition, you finally hit the nail on my head with these sets because it's very enjoyable progressive music that I can relate to. Overall, the combination of great music and stellar mixing skills earns these 2 sets a 9/10.

I was wondering why the devil you hadn't posted a new mix in so long. Happy to have a couple new sets to ring in the new year with. I'll be back with comments laterish.

haha, thanks stevieboy! am going to check out your mix soon.

i definately don't look down on your comment about gdjb. I personally like markus' show and admire his style. he definately sort of whores the new tunes and is kind of a quantity over quality show but he does it well and sticks to his 'cold harbor' type sound. compare that to armin who hasn't really stuck to a style or theme in 4 years. in my opinion armin's show is much worse because i cannot pull from it a specific style or substance. markus' show has a style and he very rarely strays from that. armin's only constant has been fluffy feel good stuff which just seems to be par for the course in dutch trance these days. anyway that's my opinion about the 'mainstream' sources of trance music.

thanks a lot for your comments, and glad you didn't fall asleep listening to these ones.

Re: 2005 Mix Compilation - 2CD - Lustral - DJ Metatron

I've been listening to the compilation over the last few days. The second CD is my favorite. Why? Well, putting aside the nice buildup, the track selection is of my liking. Numb, I Feel Wonderful, Let The Light In and of course Extraordinary Ways are just make-you-feel-good tracks. And this last track, wow, beautiful voice in this one. It reminded me when I was there listening to the original version live. And the rest of the tracks are pretty good too, even Sacred.

The first CD is good as well. Daylight, Resolution and Open Your Eyes are my favorites off this one.

On both CDs: nice mixing, as expected. Nice flow. Overall, you ended the year with a bang! Props on that. I wish you the best for this new year.

Im going to give this a listen and get back to you soon! Looks very promising with the track selection though! my kind of trance.

Hi Mate,

It's veyrnice your Idea of the picture and try to focus on that as an inspiration for your mix.

I won't give you technical feedback about the mix as a DJ, this time just will give you feedback as a normal listener.

I opened the present on christmas ,was in the car with some friends a little high jaja, and wow what a great day.

Evreythign was verynice, I liked both cds a lot, but I think I prefer the second cd.

I didnt know some of the tracks so it was interesting.

Thanks for the mix, it's very nice listening to your music =)

Nice man! great to hear from you again ierxium!

Extraordinary Ways. what a beautiful tune and the antillas mix is top notch. You saw Conjure One live? wow that must have been fukkin killer! I didn't even know he played out. I know there must not have been live singers but it would have been a great show to see him do is live shit on the PA.

Not sure which cd personally I like better. I like both for differen't reasons. Most casual listeners I've given this to like the first but the second seems to satisfy the slightly more experienced audience. I think I like the second because I think that I mixed it better; but i think that the first has a better progression and build.

anyway thanks, and it's always good to hear from you. cheers.
