How do you get rid of static electricity?

I always get shocked in my home whenever I turn a light switch on or off. Or sometimes i'll get shocked by the TV or anything electronic.

How can I prevent this? I guess i need to ground myself somehow? but how? Anyone have tips on how not to get shocked?

buy a humidfire and walk around in the nude. if you must wear shoes attach a small metal chain to leak off the build up of electrons. tin foil hat is also recommend not that it does anything but it will comfort your neurotic anxieties

that doesn't work since the clothes you are wearing are the source of the static charge.

You my friend are retarded.

Yes IGK is right. Higher humidity or the other beyond wild option.... have metal chain (small) around your ankle and have part of it dragging on the floor (think of a tiny metal noose around your ankle). That way you are always grounded and no static buildup can occur.

I just responded to his question wether shoes has to be specifically rubber or not.

You my freind are more retarded to flame like that over it.

get a humidifier... if you have static on your clothes, get a spray called Static Guard - it smells funny but it works.

If you just rationally thought about rubber and how it does not allow the passage of any current... static charge would be allowed to build. Once a person touches or gets close enough to anything that would ground them....ZAP!

Therefor your comment on getting those shoes is NULL and VOID. You do not pass go, you do not collect 500 dollars.

It happens alot to me in winter time because the air is drier. I have this problem at home as well. I have a metal computer case as well as a metal desk so I shock my computer all the time and then I get a blue screen hardware failure error and have to reboot.

Carpeting makes it worse too.

you're one of those electrified peoples. you're the type i try to avoid, as even the slightest contact, i get shocked by them every time.

If you keep doing this you'll damage your hard drive.
