RareMusicFinder.com - Blacklist

Raremusicfinder.com put me on there blacklist...which means i can nolonger enter their site.....

this is BULLSH*T...they havent told me why but i know its because of all the LEETCHERS on that board......thats not very fair considering i am on a 56k modem and am unable to share alot of what i have....

in the time i have been on the board i think i downloaded 2 live sets and 3 singles...in like a 6 month peroid..thats NOT a leetcher...i used that site for information mainly...

IN FACT...i have shared with many RMF members via FTP...but since like i said i am on a 56k modem i cant share alot...but i can name like 5 RMF members who got TONS of Tiesto sets that i have from me...YET i get blacklisted...

i am no leetcher i know that...maybe they should ask the people i have shared with...matter a fact there is one kid who got like 7 live sets from me..and he only gave me 1...but do i care no...because he helped me so i helped him...but he doesnt get blacklisted...

if that doesn't work...go through a portal (or proxy) to visit that site

i used to post on there... till i found out you had to have over 100 posts to see the real "goods" as far as livesets to download.... then i heard a rumor about people getting "blocked" as you did if they downloaded more than a set or two....

i thought to myself, "man, what's the point?" why am i going to spend weeks and weeks building up 100 posts to download 1 or 2 livesets? its like they don't even want to share trance.

so thats why i said fuck 'em, and stick to TA. Swampz is cool enough to share whatever he has and not create rules for "downloads per month" or whatever.... He doesn't think he's better than everyone else (much unlike the guys on RMF... except Snuggle - he's cool).

Plus, just look at it this way... whatever livesets they have on RMF, are on AG. So no biggie.... and god bless TA!

Hey man, I read about the "blacklist" thing on RMf the other day.

I agree with what they are trying to do, but don't agree with how they are approachin it. I think various members give the mods a list of who to them are leechers and then the mods take action. This is kinda unfair, since some memebers will only look for comments and not know anything about the person they are "blacklisting". I thought that they were to give an email notification or PM if your are "leeching".

Snuggles is a mod from RMF, so maybe if he gets a chance he can solve this for you. Sorry to hear that you got "listed". It should be solved by someone soon. I'll ask there later today.

I was also very surprised that i saw you were banned, but sorry, i can't do anything about it. It wasnt about the leeching, but it was about the fact that you were driving everyone crazy with numerous private messages, requesting this and that.

As it was said:
"I've got few mails + pms with requests from him now, he never contributed, he pmed + mailed more people, he first asked all tiesto livesets, now he's requesting many videoclips....

the thing is we can't keep track of him on the forum, because the requests stuff via pm and email... he check's everyones music list and requests shit from there...."

Sorry, i can't help you with this one. Other moderators all agreed on this point. I kindly answered all your questions, but some other moderators ( i wont say any names ) got pissed cause you kept on stalking them, requesting stuff. Sorry, i really cant help you.
Maybe in a few weeks, when all this has cleared up, you can mail me at [email protected], and i will see what i can do for you. But not now.

As for the rest of the thread:
Quickstep; Jeah i know its not the way to ban them all, and we wont ban all leechers, just because of the simple fact that we CANT.
Mp3 sites will always attract leechers. And not everyone got a sort of connection that i got, so not everybody is able to share stuff.
We know that!! We dont ban a member, just because some other member points him out! We will watch carefully if it really IS a leecher, and also why that is (if its possible).
True, i banned some people, i'm honest about that, but that were people with 30 posts in a year, with 30 of them being "thanx" just to get rid of the "lockdown"-thingie to see the specs of the server for downloading.

We cant give everyone an email if they are leeching, that would be too much work. RMF is switching from mp3-sharing to a more 'grown-up' music site. We are doing reviews from sets/cd's/parties, and also trying to do interviews with DJ's. There is also a database, which we are trying to make up where ALL the trance-mp3z can fit in.

And about the 'blacklist': that is NOT about leechers, but mostly about people who are flaming etc etc (sort of the 'jail' system on TA). And i think that there is only 1 moderator who got a blacklist.

The 100 posts thingie was a maybe i mistake, i go with you there. Some people stopped on RMF cause of the 100 post rule. But it did work for some leechers. We got rid of a lot of them, so that part worked a bit.
People WANT to share music on RMF, but its so crowded with leechers that when someone posts an ftp, its full in 2 minutes. Hell i shared a lot some time ago. Some sets of 100 MB costed me 20 GB of traffic!
The news gets around if something is shared!!

I dont want to say bad things about TA, but you just cant compare TA with RMF! I'm on TA for some time now also, and its nice and cosy here in the Dutch forum (and on the dutch TA IRC channel). But TA is just something different. You say that Swamper doenst care about the sharing etc? Hmm... i dont know.
Let him buy a DECENT server for the forums! The forum is low & not always online & reachable. Its too crowded. RMF is always fast & reachable. This is not meant personally to Swamper. I respect him that he makes such a site. We should all be glad this site excist, as well as that we should be glad that RMF excists!

Please....like ABT said all the stuff they have to offer is on the net somewhere else. I can understand them wanting to keep out leechers...but to just blacklist people without a warning of their actions is WRONG. How can someone know they are offending others if no one tells them. Sunggle: Basically TA jail is for people who have openly offended others in the forums....not sent too many pms asking for this or that. Also, the person is usually warned before being sent to "jail". Basically there is always a person on a board who is getting on people's nerves, whether they know it or not. It seems a bit like little kids are running rmf and taking the advice of people on the board as to who is cool or not and who should be banned. There seems to be this elite-ist view on RMF that they have something special to offer. I'd rather not take part of a forum that is run in such a hap hazzard fashion.

All the things you wrote here, i just explained that RMF didnt do such things. You are the little kid here, learn to read!

There is no such thing as a blacklist on RMF. Just 1 moderator keeps a list for himself, but he doenst act to people on the list. They are just being watched by him.

You know what it takes to run and moderate a forum? Dont think you do!
It takes a lot of work and a lot of effort! You get pm'ed and mailed all day, and sometimes that can get on your nerves. You just cant always tell people how to act or what to do. You just simply act!
All the respect to all the moderators of the TranceAddict and RMF forum..


And the RMF forum isnt run in a hap hazzard fashion.
There arent half as much quarrels and flamings than here on TA.
I can show you tons of fights here on TA, like that between a certain Miss ?. that fights a lot in the Dutch forum.....
And don't gimme bad stuff about the Dutch forum, cause you English/American people really dont know what is going on there. Its one happy family..

i shared so many of the sets i have with RMF memebers i PMed and now I get blacklisted....WITH NO WARNING........

MAYBE when people join RMF they should know that they have to share with EVERYONE on the board or they will be banned....thats B*LLSH*T.....because i gave back MANY times....if you want i will give you peoples names who i shared with.....

RMF i thought was a place to SHARE your music....well why is it that i get banned for doing that with ONLY a certain few and not the entire board..SH*T i am on a very slow connection and cant.........

AND you know what if i really needed to get back on RMF i could....there are ways to do things , we all know that...but the point is i was blacklisted for sharing with only a few members and wasnt even warned....you act as if i just leetched , when in fact i didnt....i guess i thought RMF was about sharing...now i know its NOT.........

Who gives a shit about RMF (sorry snugg ), there lots of other forums where they share mp3's. Don't go crazy because you got banned from a surtain forum. Just look around, there everywhere.

Btw, this whole 'sharing thing' will vanish i think, RMF will move in a different direction in the future.

No, Swamper doesn't care about file sharing. If he did care he'd code custom modules to allow for all info to be input allowing a poster to input: Producer/Artist, Title, Remix, and then in another box the full path to the where the file is located. Then I'd have a program run to get the header information of the mp3 and pull the ID3 info and include that within the post information - this of course would all be in a separate database that would be easily searchable so as to easily prevent duplication of postings. I can do all this, I just have other priorities.

That UnknownTracks.com thing took me WEEKS of programming - I have lots of other work to do on that as well for the new TA and integration that'll happen later in the year

Vector jumped on a hosting plan at RackShack that came out prior to better offers being available - In essence he could've received a much better server for about the same price had he waited another 4-6 weeks.

When entering into a hosting agreement with any company it's important to note both uptime and connectivity. RackShack has been pretty good in the past year however there have been issues with the Cogent lines they've been trying to integrate into their system. Also their switch to a new data center delayed me from going there since there have been numerous network interruptions in the transition and this site and my other sites don't need the chance of that happening. Sure, I could get on a kickass server right now but the price is hefty - it's better to wait a while and endure some slowness during peak hours than to settle for a hosting plan that you're stuck with because you jumped the gun.

Believe it or not the forums manage to handle 75 ppl comfortably on a 300 Mhz machine with 512 megs ram. Why? Due to heavy optimization - check here http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...&threadid=30860 if you're curious.. It's a few months old and some things have changed (namely version numbers) but it gives you an idea. I have some people pay me to customize their servers because it's not easy for the non-techie to fiddle with all this sort of junk

Trust me, when the other server is here it will be worth the wait. ETA is mid next month.

First off I wasn't calling you a lil kid or anyone else on the board of RMF a kid. I said it's like lil kids are running the board....you've heard of similies...a comparison using like or as....it was simply a comparison...maybe "you should learn to read". And don't come here and call me names when I never disrespected you in such a fashion! I understand that it takes alot of time and patience to run a forum. I'm not blind to that fact. But obviously people are being banned from RMF for reasons that they don't even know about. Example plainly given Tiesto14. Possibly if he had been warned he would have stopped. I know that mods listen to people on the boards. And I know that it takes alot of effort to keep people on the boards in line. But I feel that it is poor moderation to just ban someone without a fair warning. And possibly the people who were so-called "harrassed" by Tiesto14 should have said something to him directly before getting mods involved...that's what PM's are for. Snuggle...I could care less about whether there is more or less flaming on RMF as compared to TA. That was not my point. My disagreement was in the way people are banned on RMF without warning. I heard your explanation that it is impossible to warn everyone and personally I think that is a pretty weak arguement. Maybe if RMF wants people to act a certain way there should be a user agreement that all members are to sign before joining RMF. If a memeber is expected to share a certain # of files per year with the rest of the members then that should be stated up front before they join. Then that would take away all of the pressure of having to warn people all of the time for this infraction or that infraction. Writing up a user agreement and having it as part of the registration process wouldn't be that hard of a thing to do. File sharing seems to be a big part of RMF....that's a great thing. But when I registered for RMF I don't remember seeing any requirement to share with anyone.

Thanks Snuggle for explaining it to me better. I might of read the thread over there wrong. Like I said, I completely agree with the booting of leechers (people that just respond "thnx" and crap like that), so keep up the good work. I think RMF is still a kick as site and like you said we are very different over here at TA. But we all have one thing in common, and that's music.
