Ableton Live question

I recently installed Ableton Live on my Powerbook, but when I try running it, it gives me a warning about a sudio device not being detected. I can't do anything with the program without a sound device, Im guessing. Im also guessing that this sound device issue regards another soundcard being required, but I'm not sure.
Can anybody else help me with this?

No, you can do plenty. The program is referring to midi input devices, such as a keyboard or controller. Live works without them, they just make things easier.

what can you do with it?
somebody on this board replied to a question i had about sequencing software for the mac similar to Mixmeister, and referred me to AL, but I have no idea how to start doing anything remotely related to basic sequecing of tracks for a "studio" mix.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

actually let me correct myself...the warning message says that the audio engine is turned off. I tried going through the audio tab under the Preferences, but the Device Type indicates "No Audio".
What does this mean?

Does your computers sound work at all?
If your running windows check the audio config.
Im guessing its just ableton so maybe u should download some asio drivers.

In Live do the following;
Command(apple icon) + ,
Audio/Driver Type/ CoreAudio (Make sure to use that one)
OR
Audio/Output Audio Device/ Built in Audio 2in, 2 out (Same as Above)
Let me know if it works

Nope.
Here's the fact of the matter: under the Audio tab in Preferences, the Audio Device can't be messed with...it just says, no Audio.
Help? My sounddevice works, but for some reason Ableton does not receognize it. Also, it might be worth to note that I am using the Digidesign edition.
Any help?
