Heres something light before the holiday weekend

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/munich/

So here's another one of these terrorist movies that we could all see coming a mile away. I haven't seen Munich or Syriana but that's not much the point of this thread.

I'm not sure how much of the story Munich tells from the eyes of the terrorists but I think it at least gets our feet wet. From the reviews I've read Palestinians & Israeli's have both condemned the movie for whatever reasons (which isn't anything unexpected).

Ready for the thread start? Wait for it... Okay now.

What are your view points on these movies? Are they a good thing, a bad thing, pointless, meaningful? Do they make much of a difference to steer public opinion in any one direction as Clooney might hope?

They certainly expose people to the motivations of the other side. Its almost become an expectation of ours for Hollywood to do these things. I think Hollywood be damned if it's not going to capitalize on whatever political turmoil is going on at any particular time.

I think the majority of the public finds them intriguing and wants them to be made. That can be seen in when all this was taking place we knew these movies were going to be made eventually. In that we expected them to be made we were expecting them to be made so much so that even if we roll our eyes at the idea we'd be disappointed if it doesn't happen. So that might suggest that Hollywood takes too much flak and is only doing what we want it to. After all a vehical such as Hollywood wouldn't exist if there wasn't a demand for it.

If wanting to get the view point of "the other side" through entertainment in the form of a movie isn't totally American I don't know what is. While preferring to receive such information in that fashion might be seen as a bad thing one does have to admit that cinema might be the perfect medium to do so.

I could care less about this type of films, or any other type for that matter. Most are just intended for entertainment expecting to make some good cash. Also, I think, fame is a factor.

But take into account that this type of films actually bring something to the table. It's a good feeling to know there is variety when you go to the cinema. Story lines are repetitive in Hollywood. Oh, and the same faces too. Mission Impossible III? For the love of scientology!

So do these movies make a difference steering public opinion? I hope not. We have a trustworthy government working day and night bringing us the truth while providing the best of protections. I bet many outer beings envy our security. The opinion of all in this nation should be the same because of this great government and the gifted president who will not stop until there is no terrorist in the face and butt of this planet. Osama doesn't count.

Oh, and this Munich film, good stuff. This Spielberg guy has potential. He will go far. I see him doing an E.T. sequel.

I assume you are not America.

Yes, because thanks to Bush, Osama is not a person anymore, he is an idea, a relegion for some, he is an ideology.

Nomore do Osama actually need to take any active part in organising or assisting terrorist. People are willing to die in his name. His dream and gameplan has worked, the cycle of hatred has began. Bush gave him what he wanted.

You're making him sound like Obi-Wan Kenobi...

No need to take it that far; he's just like all the rest of the terrorist scum that needs to be wiped off the map...

Wait you actually understood his grumble of a post? You must teach my Jedi Knight. P.S. Don't take much Purple says seriously. People are willing to die for Osama? Oh, ok that's why they are all runing around with his face tatooed on their asses, right
