best trance tracks of year progressively getting worse

just something i felt after listening to the top 20 trance tracks of 2005 on asot the other night. the standard is continuing to drop imo. 2003 is the last year i remember now were the top 20 tracks were outstanding. 2004 was very ordinary and this year was a serious drop in standard again, wheres it all heading i fear

ah come on dude
it's not like ASOT represents the whole trance thingy
it's just a popularity poll for asot listeners, I suppose

Posted by Ian on Dec-24-2005 20:27:

fuck what other people like, the 'best' tracks are very often not voted so because they don't have the mass appeal factor. While I agree on your point, I don't think you'll get anywhere arguing it

2000-2003 classics always seem better

Posted by dannyc on Dec-24-2005 20:34:

i agree its peoples vote at the end of the day and i dont just go by this list to judge 2005 as i'm well up on my trance, but usually the truely stunning tracks still usually float to the top which is not the case this year as there was'nt that many truely great tracks imo

Posted by LieberDJ on Dec-24-2005 21:49:

for trance style i would say 1986 to 1999

then it started getting a bit redundant

Posted by Numidia on Dec-24-2005 22:08:

I agree... frankly it's getting ridiculous. Every year the top 20 tunes of ASOT are less and less actually trance tunes. Deep Dish - Say Hello? wtf is that doing there?

Posted by DJ_LG on Dec-24-2005 22:10:

It always seems like there alot of shit tracks coming out when I'm listening to new vinyl but it's because I keep comparing them to the big anthems I already have.
Although sometimes it sounds like the track was only half finished or the producer rushed it. I veared away from hard trance last year because it was becoming so repedative and now play more trance and prog.

Yes I know how fucked is that? And what is the go with TA's listing house tracks in the TOTY 2005?

want to discover great new tracks? it's easy. there is a world beyond ASOT

Rebel9, he's just saying top 20 ASOT tracks are getting progressively worse each year. Where is he implying that he has trouble getting new tracks or that he doesn't know anything outside ASOT?

Posted by RebeL9 on Dec-25-2005 01:01:

well maybe i am mistaking him since I thought he was refering to trance music in general.
for someone who listens to ASOT I can understand that it must feel depressing to listen to those poor tunes. but there is loads of good trance out there which doesn't get any air time.

Posted by zoric on Dec-25-2005 01:23:

..loads of great tunes doesn't get any airtime, they should because the producers deserves it.

i agree with you all.

happy festivus!

(perhaps the thread should be renamed to state "ASOT tracks of the year getting worse")

+1

It's amazing how hard people find it to appropriately name threads.

Rebel9 definitely makes a good point. I think a lot of people are blindly following Armin instead of considering what they really, truly like.
