Chicane

I heard Autum Tactics by Chicane (Thrillseekers remix) and was very impressed. I am new to the techno scene, but his style is very upbeat and energetic. Can you recommend any other of his songs and where can I get them?

Which artists are similar to chicane? I mainly listen to Tiesto, PVD, Benny Bennassi, Robert Miles, and Darude.

Thanks.

If it's a Thrillseekers remix, then you're not listening to an original Chicane track ie. maybe you're asking for stuff that sounds like Thrillseekers' productions.

If it's general cheesy vocal trance you're after, search this forum for "vocal trance". There's a shitload of threads on that topic.

Anyways, if it really is Chicane you're after refer here: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Chicane

Recommendations: Head over to the livesets section of this site and download Chicane - Live from Palladium (01-22-00). Best set evar. If you like the stuff, then buy yourself a copy of Behind The Sun and Far From The Maddening Crowds.

If it's The Thrillseekers stuff you're after, go here: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Thrillseekers,+The

Note: a forum search could have answered these questions for you. I expected a proper roasting from Mr Mystery. You're lucky this time

Chicane is definetly a good place to start but is only the beginning...eventually you get into more underground trance artists, and then different electronic genres, before you know it you're addicted if that hasn't happened already

Thanks.

First of all it's not all techno.
And if chicane or the thrillseekers are techno then shoot me right in my ass.
I recommand you to look in Ishkur's guide to electronic music . If you ignore the sarcasem it's quite accurate.
Second, The Thrillseekers is trance. Chicane is more house/chill out.
Try Chicane - Saltwater (Original Mix/The Thrillseekers Mix) too.
Great tracks.
Third, With the exception of Robert Miles and Daruade (since they were making music for money in the first place so there's nothing to complain about here), all of those guys that you mentioned are pretty much sellouts, try to listen to their older work.
DJ Tiesto - Battleship Grey, PvD - For An Angel, Gouryella - Gouryella (Original Mix), Gouryella - Lygaia (Airbase Remix/Green Court Remix/Original Mix), System F - Out Of The Blue, Moonman - Don't Be Afraid, Moonman - Galaxia (Solar Stone Remix), Armin van Buuren - Blue Fear 2003, Armin van Buuren - Shifting.

Gouryella = Ferry Corsten & Tiesto.
System F = Moonman = Ferry Corsten.

Oh and @MrMystery: LOL

I hope I helped,
Omer.

Since it was the Thrillseekers and Signum and others that got me back into DJing then i thought i'd add one or 2.

Starting with the obvious you cant go wrong with some Signum and Thrillseekers stuff.
You could also look for some Will Holland remixes if your into the vocal stuff.Check out some of the Kaveh stuff too, thats nice soft and bouncy stuff.

Dont know about other record sites but the one i use adds into the search other types of the stuff of the artist you have searched for, usualy some nice surprises that way.

Headstrong could also suit you.
Even Eden Project and Smith & Pledger stuff might be your cup of tea.
Fire by Ferry Corsten is what your looking too.

Ok guys, thanks for the recommendations. I did realize that Chicane was more House style after hearing more of his work on Mercora.

Thrillseekers are pretty good, and I like both styles.

Excuse my noobness....lol....I guess referring to electronic music as "techno" was pretty lame..even though I had been to Ishkur's website before.

Peace out.

I really would ignore XenatR, partly because he hasn't recommended anything like Chicane, and partly because what he has recommended is pretty shite.

Chicane are quite individual... a really organic sound. The Thrillseekers are a good bet for more of the same type of stuff, as is the alter-ego of Chicane: Disco Citizens. Also, have a look at BT (his album ESCM is quite close to Chicane in many ways), and more Paul Van Dyk. Oh, and they're more housey, but look at Way Out West too.

It's ok as long as you recognize that you are new with this.

Speaking of way out west:
Way Out West - Killa
James Holden - Horizons (Way Out West Mix)

Enjoy
