2002.02.02 Ferry Corsten @ GUV

This is the best news ive heard in a looooooooong time!
Check out the events section on the GUV website!
Ornadel next week and then Corsten 2 weeks after!
WOW!
I love GUV!

Oh GOD ALMIGHTY!

It is true... Ferry is coming back to T.O!

Holly shit... I'm speechless!

This is too much... can't breathe... aarrgghh.... air...

Seriously, I think I am definitely gonna fail this semester - T.O. clubs keep brining the world class DJs every single week!!! Holly shit! I'm gonna go broke too! But I guess it's all worth it... oh yes it is!

Posted by Crazy Serb on Jan-10-2002 09:00:

Well maybe not broke after all, since both Ferry and Armin are coming on saturdays, and those are regular nites (as stated on the GUV website), meaning it's only $10 before midnite.... SWEEEEEEET!

Posted by Stilez on Jan-10-2002 09:08:

wooooooooohhooooooooooo!!!!!!

wooooooooooohhhhoooooooooooooooo!!!!!! I fucking luv Toronto & Guv. Helloooooooo Ferry here I come. R u sure it's gonna be a regular night?? If it's only $10 before midnight...I'm gonna pitch a tent out there the night before....and roast marshmallows!!!!!

Posted by Crazy Serb on Jan-10-2002 09:33:

Well, it says so on the guvernment's website... but I don't think this is gonna be a regular nite at all (except for the ticket price), cuz Ferry is gonna blow up the place!

Shiiiit... I just can't wait...

Oh yeah, what a hell am I doing online @ 4:35am ?!

Posted by harcourt on Jan-10-2002 14:30:

Well, last time Ferry

was here, it was a regular Spin Saturday and regular cover, no special charges. I think it will be safe to assume that will hold true for this coming night as well as Armin's.

Posted by Durafei on Jan-10-2002 14:58:

I hope it will be at Kool House.. I'd rather pay 30$ and have normal people surrounding me and some space to dance.

Who told you that? I thought that the crowd was amazing, one of the best crowds I've seen on a regular Sat. nite in the GUV...

Te Ka, could you get me an autograph of Mark & Ferry while you're driving them from the airport...?

Posted by JHN416 on Jan-10-2002 18:35:

Excellent Smithers!

I don't know who you heard this from blue_neon but Ferry was amazing when he came...he tore guvernment apart for the short time he was there. However it was pretty crowded but overall really good.

yeah February is looking good...hopefully we get Scott Bond as well.

Posted by trancearmada on Jan-10-2002 19:37:

Smoking ..umm..something

OMFG! I have been away from the bbs for like 3 days come back and it's like everyone is coming to T.O.!

Can't fucking wait! and I agree it would be nicer to see him at the koolhaus!

right on bro, i thought the same thing! both ferry and the crowd combined for an amazing atmosphere!!

Posted by Special K on Jan-11-2002 02:03:

guv

i dont know why so many you bash the guv crowd!
i dont find it to be that bad at all, first of all when I go to guv I dont go there to look at other people rather I go to hear good beats!
i could care less if im beside some cracked out 40 year old asian or a roid monkey! you people need to chillax! Of all of the afterhours clubs in Toronto, I think Guv has the best crowd! Waaaaaaaay more energetic than crowds @ life on a saturday, breathe or bang!
And @ least you see some HOT GIRLS there. FUCK Breathe parties are a pure sausage fest! FUCK THAT! lol...whatever...
im done with my rant!

Posted by Tech1200s on Jan-11-2002 06:33:

You can bash the Breathe crowd if you want, but at least they're knowledgeable about the music they're listening to. I won't disagree that the Guvernment crowd is energetic, but it's mainly due to the fact that about 80-90% of the crowd is on G, E, Coke or meth. I love the Guvernment as a venue, amazing sound system, amazing lights, good music, but the crowd usually ruins it.

oh, and btw you're a hypocrite... first you say you don't care who you're partying with @ Guvernment, then you criticize Breathe parties for having too many guys, and not enough girls...

Yep, I think so too... I haven't seen the crowd in the GUV as hype as it was for Ferry Corsten for the past year that I have been going there, and even tho they are energetic at times, most of the people are on drugs (don't try to convince me otherwise, cuz you can't!).

Yep, I go there for the music too (even tho I don't hear what I want to hear everytime, but hey, who the hell am I to complain on the lack of trance tunes in there), but other people can trip me out very bad... and yes, I've seen enough 40-50 year old asians on drugs and cracked up people, it's not even funny anymore! That shite just scares me sometimes, I don't feel like I'm in the club anymore, but some crack house with wild beats in the background... but on the other side, I've met some really kewl people in there, people who are there just to enjoy themselves and the music, and that is one good thing I can say about the GUV. Unfortunatelly, I've met more people who go there just to do drugs, and that's why the crowd in GUV is losing my respect...

Posted by JHN416 on Jan-11-2002 13:26:

Well I wouldn't agree that the Breathe crowd is more knowledgable. I would say that there are definitely less people on E or G there but just because it's a smaller venue with a smaller [I]percentage of crackheads doesn't make the crowd "knowledgable". How do you measure knowledge at a club? What does that mean?

This thread is not about Guv vs System, Oliver vs Scaife, or trance vs progressive...it's about Ferry Corsten, so just be happy we have these venues at all...

I always laugh when idiots say STUPID SHIT like "yea the Breathe crowd is more knowledgeable than the GUV crowd" WHATEVER! Says who? How do you measure something like that? And who are you to say which crowd is "smarter" or not? Who are you? Do you have any importance in our scene NO! If you did then maybe your opinion would matter but since your a nobody, no-one cares about your and your stupid statements based on GOD KNOWS WHAT??? Your a nobody. As for the crowd being drugged up. Yes I agree you will find alot of crackheads @ guv on a Saturday night. JUST LIKE YOU WILL FIND THEM @ ANY OTHER AFTERHOURS CLUB IN TORONTO! Take a look @ the back couches under that white sheet @ System on a Friday night! What do you see CRACKHEADS! That area is a total SKETCHFEST. What im getting at is there are crackheads everywhere, YEA there are probably more @ guv than anywhere else, because GUV is bigger than any other place. But that doesnt mean System is not a sketchefest. I think anyone that says otherwise is either blind or an idiot.

As for me being a hypocrite...lol true I am.

Posted by Durafei on Jan-11-2002 15:42:

The reason I don't like special events at Guvernments, is because it's FUCKIN' PACKED. Most people that night probably won't even know it's a special event - they will think it's a regular night.

Posted by tranced_out on Jan-11-2002 16:01:

Talking

First of all every event or every club in the world has a mixture of CRACKHEADS+MUSICLOVERS so please stop complaining, there is nothing you and i can do about it. Secondly Mark Oliver is a totally unique Dj. Have you guyz ever stopped to consider that maybe he lilkes to play progressive tune, and honestly that guy has more energy in his sets than Tiesto. Tiesto only plays tracks which have been proven successful, whereas Mark has new tunes in all his 9hrs sets (which is a great accomplishment in its own). As for playing uplifting there aren't that many good tunes out there man, and everyone knows it, and if 2002 is the year of TRANCE maybe he will start mixing alot more trance with progressive. Tell me something everyone would you like us to come down to ur job and start complaining about the work that you do, plz let him play what he likes to play.

thats just my opinion.

p.s. NEW YEARS was out of this world.

Your response makes me laugh. You have to resort to personal attacks on myself when you don't even know me or anything about me, what are you 13 years old or something? That proves you obviously don't have the knowledge or the intelligence to argue your point of view, probably because you have nothing to back it up with. But then again I should have expected as much from someone who's nickname is "Special K". What I can't believe is that you bash me for having an opinion, are you seriously that much of a moron or what? It doesn't matter who I am in the "scene", I visit Guvernment and System on a regular basis so I am just as entitled to form an opinion on these places as anyone else, including you. And you're a nobody in the "scene" as well, so who the hell wants to hear what you have to say either?

Why do I say the System crowd is more knowledgeable about the music than the Guvernment crowd? Because it's the truth and you know it. When I start up a conversation with the average partier at Guvernment it's always "YO YOU DOSE?" or "IM RUSHING REAL HARD", or "WHAT ARE YOU ON?", or "IF YOU NEED ANY E or G LET ME KNOW". The only exception to this has been at the special events, i.e. Summers End, Seaman, etc. At system it's a different story, you can talk to people about the music, the DJ, the tracks, whatever, and they know their stuff.

Yes there are some cracked out people at System, but the ratio is completely different when compared to Guvernment, there's no denying it. I can't believe that you would even compare the two, it shows you really don't have a clue, or you're blind. Here's a question for you, when was the last time you saw someone G'd out at system? NEVER, in all the countless times I've been to system. At Guvernment, just the last time alone I saw 3 people G'd out. Question, how many times a night are you offered E/G/whatever? At system, maybe once, usually none. At Guvernment, it usually ranges between 3 - 10 times. You think I'm making this up? I have no reason to lie, I could care less what you say/think, I'm telling the 100% truth.

Anyways, I'm done with this argument. It's a waste of my time to argue something I know to be true with somebody who is quite obviously a waste of space.

Posted by Special K on Jan-11-2002 19:15:

You say I have nothing to back M VIEW UP??? YOU dont have the intelligence to PROVE your view! Your view of "the crowd is more educated" is based on what? Talking to a few people at the club? Did you converse with everyone that was there? NO? Ive had the same types of conversations with people @ System b4 too. Who is this "howells guy", "what kind of music is this", etc etc etc! Does that mean I walked away from the club thinking that evryone inside was a total idiot? NO it does not. I dont judge thousands of people based on a few conversations with one or two cracked out losers.

As you are entitled to form an opinion so am I. I am of the opinion that anyone that says one crowd is more "enightened" than the other is a complete and total DUMBASS!

As for my name being Special K, so what? That name has nothing to do with drugs. Not once in my life have I touched K, nor do I ever plan on doing so. My name is Karlos and im SPECIAL! Hence the name Special K. Another thing, SO WHAT IF I DID do K, or E or G. Does that make me a stupid person. Im probably 10X smarter than you are and know 10X more shit on music than you do.

There are just as many dumbasses @ system as there are @ GUV! In proportion to the size of the club, how many people are there etc etc. I cant even count the number of times ive been @ GUV conversing with people on the music Mark has been playing, on his skills etc etc.

As for people g-ing out! Yea of course there will be more "incidents" its a bigger club you idiot!
Whatever, your a total dumbass. Once again you proved NOTHING!
You still cant prove one crowd is "smarter" than the other.
Stop trying...

Preach to be so different yet both the same. Must you both continue this moronic discussion?
