Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (Dj Tiesto Dutch "Dimension" Remix)

Ok this is how it is, i've searched the forum several times now and searched the net for the original lyrics for this kickass tune. i know that oakenfold published the original lyrics some years ago.. but i can't find them is there anyone who has this pressrelease or the original lyrics? i would apriciate it a lot! thanx )

It's not Dutch

nah thats not the dutch version ( i have some speculations of how it goes but i don't want to post it since ppl will look at it and try to figure it out.. like everyone else i want the original lyrics that oakenfold published.

Since when is there a Dutch version ?

well, to tell you the story that i've heard..
when this tune was made at first it was released as a promo or something in the netherlands, this is the dutch version. when the tune was to be published all over the world oakenfold found that the lyrics was not aproriate... so he changed them to what we know as the original version.

If You have ISOS3 if im not misstaken the dutch version is on this CD

so much bullshit. there is nothing known as the "dutch version".

Tiesto first played his remix on Dutch Dimension back in early 2002. Oakenfold wasn't satisfied with the result and had Tiesto edit his version slightly. Not so exciting as some of you make it sound.

Well after some "research" the tune is actually on ISOS3 track 11 to be exact :P and RebeL9 is right, it was played at dutch dimension so some call it dutch remix others call it dutch dimension remix. just to have this clear so back to topic where are the original lyrics?

RebeL9 Mate, I'm impressed with how much you know. I don't post loads on TA and when I do its usually in the production area, but I read a lot, and I'm impressed with how much stuff you actually know! Where do you come across this stuff?

Aye, but it's very rare he is wrong. I am sure there are times he is, and times others are right as well. But he seems to know stuff you cant find. Not with out being there or summet anyways.

exactly its just plain easy info. nothing sacred or so.
for example if you are into cars you know most stuff. same with music.

And i still wish I knew enough to identify some tunes i still haven't found

LOL, I tried many times to get that f*cking J00F mix, but rapid share is so crap. I waited 30 mins then it told me link pass verified or summet then said my ip has already downloaded it. I try again, the same thing too.

These lyrics can be found on DJ Tiesto's 'In Search of Sun of Sunrise 3' and were the original lyrics to Southern Sun but for some unknown reason, were changed.

as you can se, it's not complete.. and if you listen it's not right in some parts either.. and if you google around you only find the current lyrics.

to reiterate: oakenfold felt the original lyrics were a bit depressing, so he went back to the studio to re-record a wee portion. tiesto liked the original - nicknamed the 'dutch remix' - so that's the one he plays in his gigs. the official tiesto remix is called the 'in search of sunrise mix' although it has nothing to do with the cd.

Oakenfold himself probably had little say in the lyrics change. Southern Sun was one of the tracks designated to promote Bunkka and receive radio play. The end product had suicidal overtones, and the suits at Maverick decided it wasn't stupid and sugary enough to appeal to the pop demographic. In all likelihood, the change from the original version was dictated from above for sales.

That Bunkka was meant to "break" the US market is code that it was supposed to be a big seller. Marketing concerns probably took precedence over content.

People always seem to botch the Southern Sun lyrics. You have to listen closely, because Carla Werner's delivery is unusual. I'm still sketchy myself on a few of the words.

All the names for the unreleased version are just made up. The Tiesto remix was first heard in Tiesto's Dutch Dimension liveset from 2002, leading to the "Dutch" and "Dutch Dimension" nicknames. Because of the darker mood of the lyrics, it's also sometimes called the "Darker Remix". Safer just to call it the "Unreleased Tiesto Remix", especially since the only thing that's different from the released version is the lyrics.

There also exists an unreleased Gabriel & Dresden cut, with the original lyrics.

I think the Solar Stone chillout mix is the only one that also has the Unreleased Tiesto vocals mixed in.
