Smiley DJ Creating a Mix...

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me.. I want to make a mix with some of the mp3s I have, and don't know how to. Could you give me the name of a good, yet easy-to-use program which I could use? I don't know how to make the songs flow into eachother with the same beat, and have only used Windows Movie Maker in the past (lol).

Any other tips or help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Either Traktor or MixMeister. I've used MixMeister since I was 16 (now on CDJs, was using TTs) and I've played around with Traktor. If your looking to just make mixes, and not really into the "DJ" or "Virtual TTs" aspect of it, then MixMeister is your program, although it is not super easy to beatmix with. Some songs just work, others don't. You have to really mess with the treble and bass and may even need to edit and fool around with different places on the wave graph to mix into. Traktor seems to work more like a virtual turntable set up, and is suited more for those who want to use it in place of or instead of using TTs. Both programs are good, I think Traktor is a little better for beginners myself, but it just depends on what your looking for.

so is that how you do it? match the beat, then alter the treble and the bass of the next song so that the previous flows into it?

edit: ive just download a trial of MixMeister, and it looks really great! i watched the tutorial, and it looks easy and effective

thx alot

Yeah you match the beats, you should try doing 32 measures (the orange bars on the graph). Look for the bigger spikes in your songs, those are usually your cue points as to where to mix in the next song. You need to alter the treble or bass or both on certain songs that have more bass. You don't want the bass to sound too clangy, that tends to happen alot. You want the bass and treble about equal to the end of the last song, or wherever you decide to mix in. As far as it being easy, it's not extremely difficult, but I will tell you, that it takes more tweaking to make a really good mix on MixMeister than it does on Traktor. Thats just how it has seemed to me while using it. I dunno if its because it's less accurate or what. I just started using it again as i've gotten an MP3 collection back up to use for my CDJs.

Auto-beat matching on MixMeister? haven't seen anything in all the years using it like that. Maybe it's something new? I only use MixMeister Pro 4.0, I haven't felt like using anything else, until I get the full version of Ableton Live 5.0

????? Dude, it's in there, however it only works 60% of the time, in 40% of the cases you have to drag the beats to the right position (not really a problem to me, but some people avoid mm because of this)

Ok, are u talking about that the position it is in is automatic? Like that orange cursor thing to put over the graph. When I think of auto-beat mixing I think of like something you click that automatically mixes it in for you, finds the right spot, but I don't see anything on MixMeister like that (unless it's in version 5 or 6), but if all you mean is that it automatically places the cursor in the cue spot (and you just need to elongate it to 32 measures) then I do know what your talking about. Just need a lil' clarification...
