PERSONAL REVIEW
His set started at 21:32 and finished at 03:32 (360 minutes exactly as advertised!).
It was basically the same show as in L.A. last August (I'm told), just with a different tracklist. I thought that the production was very impressive (at $500,000, it better be!), but I found the non-vocal performers (dancers, etc) distracting--in a bad way
The sound system was really good (for a non-audiophile).
Allegations of Tijs's trainwrecking are GREATLY exaggerated
The floor was packed most of the time, but a good 2/3 of the seats were empty!
The midnight countdown was over 1 minute late
The midnight live performance of Just Be didn't sound too good from the concourse...
Getting in with ticket in hand took mere seconds; no searches
TAs present: AdictaAITrance, bluelimitd, clubheaven, eltomas, groovedaddy21, in2muzikk, julesla929, mar46017, nerdgrl416, pbo, rizen, RobertStern, sheffy, starboy, stefanoc, Trancelover24, tru-Mac, vondewey, wackadoo, zachzama, yours truly. Non-TA MySpacers present: Chet, ~*Dani*~, Derwin, NurseFeelGood (and her wheelchair-bound "patient" you all know from Spundae), YourNaughtyGirl. Others I didn't list, please speak up!
Got a chance to talk to Jes briefly backstage
That was about the only good thing about the VIP package. Bar lines were really long; food was gone quickly (as was champagne at midnight--not that I care of course
); not enough seating; too cold compared to rest of arena; front-row seat to people being taken outside unconscious
Not worth the extra $200 IMO, especially since GAs were allowed to get as close to the stage as VIPs (one half of the span of the stage each, and seats on both sides); not what the flyer said
Plus, it wasn't too hard to squeeze by the old ladies guarding one of the 2 VIP entrances
Oh, and the T-shirt was the one from the L.A. concert with only one size available (large)
After the end of the show, long wait for a taxi in the cold outside Orleans, and off to the after-hours parties: first Rubber with Matt Darey at the House of Blues (Mandalay Bay), then Spundae with Judge Jules at the Empire Ballroom (ex Utopia). I will start one new thread for those later this week if no one has beaten me to it by then.
On a more personal note, I guess I would have enjoyed the night more if I had had my closest clubbing friends there with me (instead of at Spundae in L.A.)... but as I look back, it was a really great night for trance music regardless
I'm very happy this was the NYE event I chose to attend.

I was so excited for this night! Especially since I was not going to this show until about a week before the show! Started my night with no Alcohol since earlier in the day, I had to
force myself to (vomit) in order to feel better. Those are the results of drinking too much
while enjoying great music played by Paul Van Dyk.
So I went down the strip at about 4pm or so to get an extra battery and more memory for
my camera. Well this almost ruin my night took me about 4 damn hours to get through the stupid strip! To my luck the freaking train shuttle was not working from Excalibur to
Luxor. Then this damn hooker wanted to party with me and my friend. I was not looking for that type of fun specially since I would have to pay for it and I was running late for
Tiesto!!!
Made it back to the room at about 8:20pm had to charge the new battery.
Got ready and left to party at the Orleans arena at around 9:00pm. The place
was packed when I got there. They where playing some wack music, I think
it was just a recorded mix. The Vibe and the crowd where all just rights. At
about 9:30pm the lights went off, the screen turn on and the INTRO begin!!!
After the video fireworks went off and Tiesto appear! It was so amazing.
The floor was packed and I try as hard as I could to squeeze to the front of the
Stage. It was a nightmare but the people where friendly. The show was amazing and definally worth the trip to Vegas along with the $118 price tag for a ticket!
The might night countdown was amazing right after this beautiful girl who I am guessing is Kristy Hawkshawn came out to sing “Just Be”. It was just the perfect song
To start the new years! The night ended with to my surprise Mindcircus just as it did
With Paul Van Dyk!
I recorded so much and will post all the video as soon as I can fix some technical difficulties..

Thanks for a party review. Surprisingly but i couldn't make it there. Well...
I thought the concert was good...personally I liked the LA show better, but I still had a blast. Maybe because of the booze. Heh, I still don't like that he freaking doesn't talk at all...its making me dislike him a little. The traclist was good..and the environment was great. I have a pic of some guy that I don't even know...maybe he's a member here, but who knows. I'll post my pics later.
It was fun, but honestly Matt Darey and Judge Jules were better.. especially Jules

Those 2 were typical club sets like we see weekend after weekend
Tiësto was a full arena spectacle seen only a couple of times a year
Judge Jules wasn't anywhere as good as he last was in Spundae (L.A.)'s main room

Since I went to TIC-LA in August also, guess a comparison between these two TIC events would be good:
- Got there around 9 p.m., expecting mile-long lines and massive security like there was for TIC-LA. It was raining, windy and cold, but was so incredibly easy to walk from my hotel room in the Orleans right down the hallway into the Arena, never had to go outside! Then just showed my ticket and was inside in seconds. Was much more crowded inside at that time, probably since thousands of fans weren't waiting outsided to get in like in LA.
- The bars never close! I love Las Vegas!
Any drink ordered with Red Bull was $5 more though, but they did give you the rest of the can...was a real effort trying to carry two drinks and two cans of Red Bull up and around the steps to the stadium seating area...and I was still sober then! I say that we legalize gambling in California, eliminated income taxes, and learn from what Sin City does best!!
- Never waited in line for the restroom more than a minute. I had VIP tix for TIC-LA, so didn't have any problem there, but heard that restroom lines were long at the Sports Arena.
- Tiesto played an amazing set, as I expected. I don't think he played his new track "Music on My Mind," which was a good thing if you've heard it. If he did play it, then it must have been a much better remix than the original! The rest of the show was very similar to TIC-LA, though Tiesto's tracklist was different.
- Half the dance floor was VIP and the Arena (floor) was almost completely packed. I'm guessing that almost 8,000 people showed up?
- Since the floor was divided into two (VIP left, GA right), was difficult to get up front. I once got two people away from the stage, only to find out that no camera pictures would come out there due to this blue light machine that shined into the lens every other second!
- The NYE countdown was done on the screen, digital display with minutes, seconds and milliseconds. Big burst of fire at midnight, but the real surprise was the blizzard of confetti released near the end of the night! Never seen so much confetti, it was coming down for several minutes!
- As mentioned, Tijs closed his set with the encore song G&D "MindCircus." PVD also ended his set with "MindCircus" the night before. The world's #1 and #2 DJ's end their sets with the same song...I see some symbolism here, maybe Tiesto paying respect to the DJ who was finally voted above him this year? I think Paul played the original and Tiesto a remix though. After that, the crowd was chanting "one more," but I knew there wouldn't be..."could I please have some silence, could I please have some space" - nothing can follow that, except the obvious!

..."could I please have some silence, could I please have some space" I think that's why they both chose that tune, PVD has done that plenty of time before, thats how he closed in LA earlier in 2005, tiesto wasn't playing no tribute to anyone really, the lyrics are just very appropiate
I posted this review on tiesto's myspace...
--------
I thought the show was perfect in every way. It started on time as scheduled at 9:30, the crowd went nuts when tiesto came on. He looked really serious and focused and kept that way during the entire nite and it shows. The set was flawless. the track selection was perfect for this kind of show. it consisted of everything from classic tracks like 'open your eyes', 'das clockenspiel', and 'traffic' to newer tracks, my fav being 'Remember me' and 'Air for life' to tiesto's own production tracks and few live singing. And the midnite track couldn't have been more perfect with live singing of 'Just be' WOW! Lots of kisses and hugs! strangers from all over the world were like best friends at this moment. The atmosphere was electrifying and it just gets better and better as the nite progressed. Alot
badass banging tracks i couldn't recognize kept driving the crowd into oblivion! there werent' alot of cheesy breakdowns just relentless driving bassline flowing and i couldn't stop dancing. I didn't want to look at my watch becuz i didn't want the nite to end but when i finally did it was freaking 3am! he ended with 'traffic', everyone knows this song and it sounded so good in this arena. everyone thought it was a good ending but then tiesto came back after like a minute and dropped the final song, Way Out West - Mindcircus! OMIGOD WOW! the confetti came down and everyone is singing along...
Falling in
six hours from morning
and falling in
sink me off to... sleep
so come along within, ahh..uhh
i think it's time to let me in
I'm tipping my foot very close to the edge, edge..ahh
just a few more of your seconds
and I need for me to repair
to neatly stand and spin it around in my head, yeah..ahh
can I please have some silence
can I please have some silence (yeah)
can I please have some silence
how 'bout some space
almost
ready to drift now
and I feel myself slipping inside you
just a little bit further
before something drags me back
so close, I thought I nearly had you there
I'm so tired
I gotta sleep
I wanna wake up from a dream...
...
Now that's a perfect ending to a perfect new years eve party! thank you Tiesto for the most memorable nite.

You guys celebrated late
IGNORE THIS POST. I am a moron, lol.
Downright the best time I've ever had in my life. I was absolutely blown away by the production quality, live vocals, tracklisting, and not to mention the HOT GIRLS present (WOW!)! I LOVE Las Vegas! Too bad I didn't meet any other TA's though
. Nonetheless, every bit worth the money, I'd do it again in a heart beat.
Anymore pics????
I actually hope that with how attendance has been if they do any more TiCs in the US, they do SF at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. The main auditorium holds 7,000 to 8,000 peeps between the main floor and the seating....It would be a nice, tight production with the whole place packed. from floor to cieling if they controlled it all.
Tiesto has not played in SF since December 2004...I think this whole area is damn thirsty for him....at least those don't really know the demise in his quality.
I need a Tiesto fix, though. Badly. lol. That set that was downloadable recently is awesome, IMO. Love it

In fact, a quick search on google about details for the night all say SIX HOURS. I'd be most pissed about that. |
