Dunno Another ''best of 2005'' thread... this time for albums

I know, yet another one of these threads where we argue over what is and isn't the best ____________ of 2005. This time I say we cover albums, both artist and mix.

Pole Folder - Zero Gold
Dousk - D.I.Y
Pendulum - Hold Your Colour
Sasha - Fundacion
James Zabiela - Utilities
Desyn Masiello - Balance 008
John Digweed - Fabric 20
Steve Lawler - Lights Out 3
Ferry Corsten - Creamfields 2005

that about does it for me. I think it's weird that I only really liked one trance album this year even though I still do like trance. I guess it's just been a bad year for trance albums unless there's some I haven't heard (which I'm sure there are) that are outstanding.

Posted by PHg on Jan-02-2006 20:43:

1. Dousk - DIY
2. Space Manoeuvres - OID
3. White Label Republic

nice list...got all mine

Posted by Munchy on Jan-02-2006 20:55:

DJ Tiesto - In Search of Sunrise 4
Creamfields - Mixed by Ferry Corsten
Sasha - Fundacion
Ferry Corsten - Passport: The Kingdom of the Netherlands

And just for a change of pace, I really liked:

David Guetta - Fuck Me I'm Famous Vol. 2

Posted by Ted Promo on Jan-02-2006 21:12:

Some honorable mentions go to

Richie Hawtin: De9 Transitions

I can't really get into Hawtin even though I've tried. It's a bit too minimal and subtle for me. Still, I can respect the album, the thought put into it, and the mixing.

James Zabiela FOUR.2

I'm not quite sure whether or not this was really an album or a release of four sets as I don't think there was an official album epithet tagged to it. Still, it was damn good. Especially Zero Rendered

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-02-2006 21:32:

Pendulum - Hold Your Colour
Chemical Brothers - Push The Button

Were the two I'll be listening to for a long time yet.

Miika Kuisma - Inwardgaze
Jaa - Fiction

Posted by basd on Jan-02-2006 21:49:

Richie Hawtin - DE9:Transitions
Loden - Valeen hope
Jacen Solo - Virgo

were the ones that did it for me last year.

Ticon - Zero Six After
Jaa - Fiction
P.O.T.S. - Creating Social Success

we had a hire car in the canary islands & went on a sunset ride (Me & my bro) with cd1 of two faces playing, the sky was pink, see myself, the rex the dog & the 'come to me' sounded so amazing on quiet country roads with the windows down & the music playing nicely

Just to add some more

Shpongle - Nothing Lasts
http://www.discogs.com/release/462630

^^ had some critics but as my first taste of shpongle, the sheer quality of production finish left me breathless & wondering just how good the previous releases were

Spiral Trax - 2cd - Swedish Goa
http://www.discogs.com/release/430760

A cd of blindingly mind-tantalising progpsy with some more upbeat stuff on cd 2 with lots of trippyness.

Interesting list - gotta check out Kanzyani's, De Hey's and Liebing's albums...

Posted by torontotrance on Jan-03-2006 00:30:

Best Artist Album - Pier Bucci - La Familia (Crosstown Rebels)

-It is too minimal for some people but for me, it hit all the right buttons

Best Mix Album - (Tie) - Joof - White Label Republic (hitmania) and GU 028 - Warren in Shanghai

Joof's mix was outstanding and it just made me remember why I loved trance and joof's style

Warren used all these newer artists and just hit every single right note and he even included the famous track in CD2.

Most Disappointing album this year was Dave Clarke's World Service 2. I'll give the man props for using tracks that he was playing but he tried for banging and the CDs had little flow.

One of the year's best, so funky and dirtyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I loved Behrouz's mix on Renaissance, such a smart pile of werk.
