I don't know about the mixer, but as far as a CDJ1000 mkIII (or a CDJ2000, whatever you want to call it) is concerned, Pioneer seem to still stick by the words in this thread:

http://www.pioneerprodjforums.com/u...sb=5&o=&fpart=1

(taken from the Pioneer Pro DJ Forums)

Copied here for the lazy amoung you:

quote:
Dear Pioneer DJ Friends,

There has recently been some rumors about a CDJ-2000 being released in the next couple months which will be the successor to the Mk2. These rumors are just that...RUMORS...completely incorrect and unsubstantiated. There is no new CDJ going to be released this year. Are we working on a successor to the Mk2? Yeah, of course! Just as we are working on successors to the 800, 909, 600, DVJ, HDJ, 200, 300, and DJM-1000. When will it be out? Who knows. Whenever the engineers come out of their secret underground lair and tell us so. I can however without a doubt assure you that there are no CDJs planned for this year. The forum will be the first to know I promise and it will come from me.

When you hear rumors or see them on the net know that they usually are incorrect. I have found rumors get started sometimes by competitive interests that want to cause disruption to our sales. By effectively releasing a rumor like this they scare customers such as yourself from purchasing Mk2s.

pioneer will deny until the day of release. the new mixers (400 & 800), and two new cd decks (1000mk3 and 800mk2) are all about not for demos.

Buy 'em... even if they do come out, i've heard all they'll have is some new auto beat match feature...

Posted by nicktra86 on Jan-05-2006 10:32:

i can tell you right now that mkIII is real, there was a pioneer tent at summadayze melbourne (anyone else who went see this?) the mkIII can use mp3 and has numerous new functions, i didnt really look at the mixer, the guy talking about the new gear said it will hopefully be available mid feb...

Looks hot..

hhmmm, surely Pioneer would have some sort of big arsed launch rather than world premiere it at a festival in Melbourne, in a promo tent. Not exactly the swish marketing you'd expect from Pioneer. And for that I'm still a bit sceptical.

Posted by nicktra86 on Jan-05-2006 11:11:

ah yea told ya it was there!
as if pioneer is going to say they're releasing it and loose a shit load of people buying the mk2, like this they get the money for mk2 and then the money from the people updating to mk3

Posted by Soundwerks on Jan-05-2006 15:04:

what did the mixer look like? Is it the new DJM-600?

Posted by n3lly on Jan-05-2006 15:22:

The one thing i hope this brings, (if it's true) but i doubt it will happen. Is a drop in the CDJ1000mk2's price.

However, i can only see pioneer increasing the price of the mkIII and keeping the 1000mk2 at a similar if slightly lower price.

I'm really keen to see what they're thinking of with the cdj800mk2.

This is interesting, but i doubt it'll be released as soon as jan or feb. There just hasn't been enough hype about it.. Then again, who knows.

where are you seeing this? i searched all over the AuTA forum and couldn't find a thing

I hope Pioneer will showcase something on the Scandinavian Music Convention in late February in Stockholm. I believe they have been a large sponsor of earlier SMC's, so hopefully we'll see them there again this year.

At the end of the day the only problem with buying a mk2 just now is that the price will drop. The Mk2 wont suddently become completely shit and unusable, its still good.

The reason the shit is so expensive is because its good stuff and takes the abuse, if was at SoundLab prices it would have SoundLab quality.

Didn't think of that

The EFX-500 didn't drop all that much in terms of price when the EFX-1000 was released. I don't think the CDJ-1000's will drop dramticly either. The MK3/CDJ-2000 or whatever it's name will be will only be more expensive. I hope I'm wrong tho'

Posted by punjabi on Jan-06-2006 06:55:

it'll probably replace the mk2 just like the mk2 simply replaced the original cdj-1000.

Posted by Orbital32 on Jan-06-2006 06:58:

an MKIII designation pretty much means that's it's not a overaly major update. what would it do? Play MP3's or have a sampler? things i can live without.

as for the efx500/1000 i bet if the efx1000 was named the efx500 mk2 then there would've been more of a price drop/discontinium... instead they brought out a 'new and improved' efx500

I think you nailed that one...

Posted by tubby on Jan-06-2006 09:36:

there's been a backordering on mk2's for some time now, so there's next to no chance that there will be any price drop when the mk3's come onto the market.800's might see a drop when their mk2 comes out tho, since they don't seem to be in short supply right now
