hopping...
I have been shopping.............

Have just flown home from the states with them in my hand luggage. All three managed to fit in the bags and in the overhead storage- and two very bored customs officers didnt give a second look. Security at JFK were a tiny bit concerned and did an explosives swab test (!) on all of them and all the bags before they let me through!
So I would like to thank:
UDG: not only do the trolley bags, sling bags and laptop courier bags all hold CDJ1000s easily (or two in the case of the trolley bag), they also definately do fit in the overhead lockers with no bother as per the advertising.
George Bush: for making the US/uk exchange rate so piss poor everything is cheap
British Airways: For giving three times as much carry on baggage allowance to passengers in Premium or business class (the only way to fly long haul).
A bit of hassle, but as the bird lives in NYC, and i was going anyway- and I could get them brand new for a fantastic price
then it would have been rude not to.
The boxes are at the birds in NY still and will arriving in the mail to me in a couple of weeks.
Anyone tempted to do the same- its a lot of hassle!
Off to barcelona tomorrow so not online for a bit- but back in a week. January is Dj holiday time!!
Happy (late) new year all you guys in the Dj booth
so how much did they cost then?
was a pair not enough?!
I bet you have 3 turntables already!
How big are power converter adapters these days?
I'd be tempted to get a friend in the states to help me out by getting me some of these

| Originally posted by jdat Power adaptors have been small for quite a while. I remember as a kid ( like 1990 ) my mother would use one for her hair rollers from the US and it was a 1000 watt thing and was basically the size of an ac adaptor real small. The big blocks you're talking about are usually real powerful and real expensive. |

I've heard from people from the UK on different forums in regards to many different types of items and taxation and it seems pretty much hit or miss.
The chances are actually pretty big that you get taxed and high cost as well.
Best solution is coming back by plane customs usually don't check bags or really do anything about it ( like Freak said ).
see if you were to go to the u.s from the uk, pick up a couple of Cdj's and then bring them back with you, could you say that you took them over with you from the uk because you're the famous Dj Zejayman and they've got no right to tax you?
I've asked this before but nobody knew anything...
