I must be the only person on the planet to not be a huge fan of this guy. His stuff is well produced & polished but it never does anything for me, and he loses points for butchering Hydra - Affinity

i feel the same.. i don't DISlike him hugely but nothing he's ever done has jumped out as special/different to me. and i didn't like the hydra remake... backbeat mix ftw

Least I'm not alone in these thoughts. It's not that I don't think he's talented, but he's just never done anything which really jumps out & grabs me

as with most producers from the Anjunabeats stable Menno De Jong's sound is neither spectacular or creative. It uses the same formula as Above & Beyond, Smith & Pledger and the others.
But this is no news

he is good. so serene is great! hes talented. but i dont think hes as good as u feel he is.

Errrm... he only remixed So Serene, that's Mark Otten's track -- which is good but I feel is also overrated

Overall I like Menno's stuff and I think he is talented, but the majority of his works don't jump out at me either.

nothing original.

Tundra and his So Serene Remix are nice, but I think it's his livesets which really shine.

I love Tundra

I don't think he's a bad producer at all, quite the contrary. Love "Guanxi" and "Tundra" too, as well as his remixes of both "So Serene" (made it a bit techy, not as good as the original but good as a peak time track) and his remix of "Affinity" I feel is top notch. Doesn't match the quality of the "Thrillseekers Dub" but is definitely one of the better remixes of "Affinity" IMO.

The So Serene Mix was Fine.

I liked it.

I really like the countermelody Menno adds in his remix of Affinity. I don't think the sound is "worse" just "different", and I think he makes it his own.

I guess you could also say that most of the Intuition guys have really similar sounding productions. I'm thinking of the synth sounds specifically - Tundra, City Lights, Tales from the South, etc, etc.

You know that video-game, highly melodic, really silky synth.

I really liked tundra, other producers like JOC and Stoneface & Terminal just seem to be slapping their name on anything and they did something for me at first where as now its just a bit to "samey", /Next

Sounds very similar to Mesh-Purple Haze to me, although not as good!

Ah yeah, the backbeat mix or the Dub mix is the most played at my place

Though, Menno De Jong - Guanxi with the Super8 touch, I think that's the greatest Menno-production I've heard.
