bit of a step down from ipod's u2

It scares me how famous people are sometimes

Posted by Purple on Jan-08-2006 17:04:

Tiesto is a brand now I guess.

it's been like that for a long time now.. sadly

Creative must be thinking this is going to be the mindset for a potential buyer:

omg I'm definetly going to get this since Tiesto is my god and because Tiesto is so good then he must support an excellent mp3 player. Additionally Im going to be able to see the Tiesto logo everywhere I go!!!

No wonder why trance is not picking up market share that fast, when it has a brand like Tiesto as its ambassador.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-08-2006 18:02:

I've never known an artist so hyped that so few people actually know. If we weren't told Tiesto was famous, nobody would think it.

Posted by knoxy5000 on Jan-08-2006 18:21:

He's just become a name and marketing brand now, i mean there's making money then there's just plain and sheer greed. I cant remember the exact amounts but i remember reading in the december issue of DJ Mag the insane amounts of cash he was paid for a few gigs in greece.

PvD has done it with a quality mp3-player

lol! since when are ipods quality? especially the shuffle? gimme a break man. (wouldn't go for that creative piece of crap either mind you)

How strangely attractive!

(and iPods, quality? break, give me.)

Posted by Purple on Jan-08-2006 19:38:

I think he implied to say that atleast Pvd didnt came out with his name printed on a cheapstake Creative mp3 player, which looks more like a portable cheapo radio to me than an mp3 player.

well if you check the web, then you will find that the ipod shuffle has some of the best audio characteristics available in a portable mp3-player.

plus pvd didn't print his name on the ipod, so he didn't sell out like tiesto, his logo is printed on a skin that can be purchased separately for little money.

by the way i've got the Sony_NW_E_407 which i am very happy with,
what's your superb player then?

I have the 1gb version of the tiesto mp3 player (minus the tiesto stuff) and it blows alot of mp3 players out the water.

...and that's different how, exactly?

Posted by pvdclubber on Jan-08-2006 20:28:

easy, tiesto gets paid by creative, his logo is on the actual player

pvd does not get paid by apple, he just prints his logo on skins, the skins cost the same as regular skins in the shop

Yet they both make money by selling products that people want. What other difference is there than where the money is coming from?

If you don't like the idea, hey, just buy the regular version. Nobody's forcing you to buy anything. Or is it just the fact that some artist came up with an idea your beloved favourite DJ didn't that pisses you off?

i've got an iaudio u2, which isn't exactly a god's gift either, but at least it's better than an ipod! then only thing ipod is better in than its competitors is its looks as apple really does know how to make sexy looking stuff IMO.

mini disc is cool, i used to be an avid supporter myself, but since sony is supporting atrac compression on usb sticks like mine, the actual minidisc player has become obsolete, its only field of expertise left is on the run audio recording

new hi-mds have native mp3 and wav support, digital uploads of live recs. to the pc, and no more proprietary restrictions on the # of transfers -- also linear pcm quality on live recordings...

sadly it all came too little too late and most people abandoned it.

for the stubborn audiophile and live event bootlegger it's still the best best
