E-mortal - The End of New Beginnings [mysterious epic uplifting trance] *UPDATED*

Feels like it was ages I posted something here

I got a bit iffy after christmas cause everything just got "too much"? So after having taking it easy now for a while, I got back into the chair and made this piece.

It's a mysterious epic uplifting trance track?
I intend it to be the ending track on the album.

Here is the track:

Lemme know your feelings

EDIT: I've updated the track now, rewritten the intro, changed outro, removed stuff, added stuff etc etc.

Hi,
Very nice track, love the pads, the build up is a bit strange for me, all goes a bit caothic, I personally think that pads, the synth break and the staccato strings have potential for to be an awesome and serious tune.
Sounds perfect for a videogame in the space, or a documentarie about the space, the pad, choirs chord progression is great .
In overall, really glorious tune .
Kopi =o.

As usual it sounds great. You really have the ability to make it sound so much more than just music!
Nothing really to complain about.
Great track. Keep it up!

The buildup before 1:00 until 1:23 sounds very... strange. It's like there's three different elements being mixed together in different keys. Actually, that pluck sound throughout the song sounds wrong virtually every time it appears before 2:30, you should probably look into that. Nice string buildup around 3:00, very Adagio-esque, then there's that pluck sound again at 4:00 and 4:20. I'm sorry, that sound just sets me off and makes my teeth grate It's completely out of tune compared with the strings going at the same time. Another nice build and resolution at 6:00; it's kind of weird how it seems to switch from major key to minor, however. The pluck almost works at 7:53, but that's because the only other sound is the percussion =\ The ending seems a bit weak, like the train ran out of steam or something. Otherwise a decent track!

Cool mrlachatte, I feel the whole intro part needs some more work, so I'll check those things out and also I think I will remove the guitar harmonics, works well without them

Plus, this one is probably getting vox on it.

Speactra and Kopi, glad you liked it guys!

I'll bump the thread when I have a new version ready later today

interesting composition to this track. It has a very uplifting feel, but doesnt rely on the usual build and drop method. Quite a lot of elements and unexpected changes. I particularly like it how there is a huge release at 6 min. Works really well that part.

The acid line you have running through most of the track sounds a little too softwarish to me. It has a slight 303 twang, but isnt quite there. Perhaps a bit mroe distortion and filtering could spice it up. Strings and pads are well done. A bit standard, but they work well in this sort of track.

Much more album trance than dancefloor stuff... nice to hear this style for a change.

Ok, I've updated the track now, rewritten the intro, changed outro, removed stuff, added stuff etc etc.

Better now?

Nice kick and funky bass, effects are good, synths are very nicely filtered and dark(ish). Percussion is good, nice and simple but effective this time. Synth buildup is cool, 303 n stuff works for me... nice buildup, i like...

breakdown, luvley melody, strings n synth intro is cool. I like this. More power in the breakdown and introducing the track sometimes when i listen...

Nice melody overall, ideas are cool too. Moved the music folder. Great stuff. Keep it coming.

Ahh! This sounds much better!
It got more feeling and power now. I really love the way it evolving at 1.24. It sounds better than the previously version.
The overall sound is better now to.
Nice work!
I also seing forward to the final version.

Hey man, very original stuff here, liking it very much. Not really got much to say that hasnt been said. Except that the break is awesome, seriously nice work. The track really does progress exceptionally well after that. Trance isn't my thing any more but I have to admit this is great stuff. Well done

Tja!

- Nice groove!
- Clean drums, though I think you should use some more paning on the percs, it feels a bit centered!
- I like the melody/chord-progresion!
- Good mixing!
- Liking the synths & the acid-line!
- I like the arrangement, it really keeps flowing through out the track, keeps me excited!

Great track!!
And based on the other trax I've from you, I like your style!

Keep it up,
David

Thanks guys, really glad you liked it

David, I've been thinking of doing some small changes to the percussion, including a more "klicky" kick, so I'll check out the panning as well

Tiff Lacey will be putting vox on all my tracks as well, including this one

nice stuff mate, well produced track. i like it.
strings and pads are nice. the balance of the whole mix seems a bit strange.

keep it up

Posted by staticblue on Jan-15-2006 21:15:

this track has got a great drive, it's definitly something different than the common uplifting trance (very different chords and structure)

i like alot the acid feast and explosion of energy before just 2:00 you seem to know what youre doing melodic wize too.

really was a nice listen

Posted by EtherealSL on Jan-15-2006 21:55:

well done in terms of production. thinking that overall the mix may be too bright? unfortunately, memory isnt' too memorable...

very nice website btw, very well done!

Posted by Drik on Jan-15-2006 22:14:

Thanks guys

Ethereal, I got another guy also that said that it was a bit bass lacking, so maybe that is what is making it seem a bit bright?
I'm gonna see if I can squeeze some more bass into it, I think it will also be more pronounced with a more punchier kick, altough I don't want a kick to take over as I want the attention pointed at the melody

I'm gonna do a final check on these things when mixing in the vox

Thanks staticblue, I was aiming this one to be a bit off the wall in terms of arrangement so I guess I got it right then

djsphere, thanks man, glad you enjoyed it!
Hmm, what parts do you mean that was strange? It's a big wall of sound, was there anything that jumped at you that I could check into?

One thing I've been considering is pulling the cello more to the center as it might steal a bit too much attention panned to the left?
