teamPROGRESS - Symphonic Music (Sunrise Mix)

Those are the pics from Discogs... I submitted them... that's the actual vinyl.

Yup, selling the one with the Sunrise Mix (as featured on Oakenfold's Essential Mix). Don't have to tell you anything about this one that you probably don't already know...

SERIOUS offers only please.

Thanks,
Keith

+1, i was womndering the same. though its very hard2find, maybe impossible, so that this occassion was 1 in a million, i still wonder ... if $76 wasnt enough, then what would've been the reserve ... i understand that you dont want to tell it, but still, forgive us to ask this

For a track that's as popular as Tekknova's "Last Trip To Paradise", but apparently much more rare... what would you set the reserve at?

I've heard of this 12" selling multiple times for $300+ USD.

Posted by DaanMc on Jan-20-2006 01:12:

Wow, that's pretty much

How do you get all those rare records in your collection? Do you collect them? Your wantlist is also full of rarities..

Posted by ThaMaestro on Jan-20-2006 10:26:

i know that waxhead has a lot of rarities/h2d-records ... from the other threads on this board. he sure knows whats rare and whats not ... anyway, im confused by your last reply waxhead; did you sell teamPROGRESS, or was it keithos27? because you kinda seem to take the questions 'personal' and answer them (i mean this in a positive way of course, i just dont know the right words/phrase to explain, im dutch, forgive me )

I've heard a ton of dance/electronic music in the past few years, and I started a collection of the records I loved hearing. Of course, plenty of those happened to be very sought after (Sasha/Digweed/D.Seaman/Oakenfold/etc tunes). My collection is actually much larger, I've mostly added only the rarer items to Discogs. Over the next few months, I'm hoping to get the rest of my collection added.

It is Keith who's looking to sell teamPROGRESS (it's now posted on GEMM.com), but I've heard about that record being sold before, and knew how much ppl paid. I didn't mean it to come off as a "personal" response, I'm asking more out of curiosity than anything else, as I certainly wouldn't sell it for $76. I do know what the reserve was set at, and it was quite a bit more than that

Despite the sheet stating 500 copies were pressed, this record is much more difficult to find than most 12"s with smaller print runs. It's either b/c fewer were actually pressed, or b/c of the lack of info on the record itself (just a little picture, w/ the word "PROGRESS"). In any case, I've never seen it sold online, only heard about collectors/djs finding it by directly contacting other ppl.

Posted by DaanMc on Jan-20-2006 13:44:

My reply was actually for keithos, but your reply is interesting too.
How do you get all those rare items? You know artists and have good connections I think?

Those records you see maybe once a year on eBay or something.
I've also some rare records (Lexicon 4 - Reach Me, U2 - Staring At The Sun (Brothers in Rhythm Mixes), Andy Ling - Fixation (Airwave Remix), T-Scanner - Trip To Heaven) to name a few.

But you guys, Keithos, Waxhead, and some other guys on Discogs (intoLSD,remiXman_2oOo,etc) does have all those rare records, and you all will collect all the rarest records of the world. Hoe does that come?

I'm just interesting..

Posted by keithos27 on Jan-20-2006 13:57:

Hi guys... Sorry I haven't replied... I cannot access TA from work so I have a very limited access to TA these days. My reserve was set well above $76 only because as you all know that record is hard as hell to find. I didn't want to "give it away" for a low price.

Regarding the whole 1 in 500 thing... its' actually true. But here is the deal. This record was made by at the time relatively unknown producers (the guys who make up teamPROGRESS). They paid out of their own pockets to press up 500 records and they took those 500 and drove down to the WMC in 1999 or whenever and just started handing out the records. Some people took them... sometimes the TP guys had to sneak them into the bags of famous DJs. Either way, my theory is that most people who have the record either a) don't know they have the record, b) are big name djs who don't bother to sell their records and/or list them on discogs or c) just don't want to give up their copy!

it's quite an amazing track... ironicly, the "sunrise mix" took only 40 minutes to make after the "original mix" was slaved over to make... it was just a quick breakbeat remix to add a different spin to the track. imo, it's much better than the original mix.

anyway... i've listed the record on gemm.... gemm threw that nasty 15% charge on top so that is why the price comes out to so high. as stated in the listing, the price is negotiable. feel free to contact me via the e-mail link provided in gemm if you are seriously interested... i, unfortunately, am unable to check the posts/PMs on TA for most of the day...

anyway, thanks for the interest guys!

and regarding how do you find rare records... you just put a lot of time into research! just this morning i bought "jose amnesia - the eternal" 2x12" promo for $15.

these are all very interesting stories. i guess you (DaanMC) and me (myself just a bit), are just youngsters/amatuers compared to waxhead and keithos. with all respect to them!
me, personally, i dont have a lot of time for the continuous search after those h2f records. being a student doesnt give you a lot of time. allthough, i spent more time on searching ebay and other places for such records, then i actually should (im already having a delay in my studie because of this). next to that, i dont have the cash at all. not even to invest, even if an investment in a cetain amount of record(s) would be profitable. my bankaccount is almost max in debt's, and my savingsaccount isnt more then 4 euro's ... and then i've got all the bills, bills, bills ...

but its an interesting story to read, especially since im always trying to find such records myself too. usually i dont succeed in doing it, but i always wait (when i find one on eBay), what the ending-price is gonna be ...

i know of one record which was sold a time ago here on ebay, it called something like morgan king - im free (say after me) was sold for some 150 GBP, and a couple days ago, some boy tried to sell Acen - Trip to the moon PART 4 1/100 (with a strating bid of 150 GBP, it wasnt sold) ... and there are more examples i can name right now ..

i guess you need a lot to gather such collections; time & money, contacts, inside-stories behind unreleased promo's, a lot of motivation, passion for the music itself .... its just a nice thing (i think) for being busy with. and when u finally have a 'complete' collection of h2f records, you sell it, because your target has benn reached ... and hopefully those records then still have their value (guess they will, if you compare it with some old elvis' 7")

Haha add me to the list of h2f collectors I just started no more than 4 months ago so i'm still learning.

you forgot to mention LUCK.. you probably know as well as me it's about being in the right place at the right time - my personal best was an original pressing of the sasha & digweed Northern exposure album for 5

Posted by ga11agher on Jan-20-2006 21:52:

Anyhow keithos - do you have a full list of your actual record collection - i'd love to see the ones you are actually holding back on selling ???

I'll make sure I'm using someone elses computer when I view the list so I droll over their keyboard and not mine

Unless you're a good friend of many well-known producers/DJs, you really do need a lot of luck to find certain records.

I'm not sure it matters who has the most rare records, but I'm definitely sure it's not me. I have a ton of rare ones, though plenty of people on TA have MUCH larger collections, and have been collecting vinyl for many more years than myself. Keith and I discuss it quite a bit and share what we know, but that doesn't necessarily mean either of us have more than all the other users who don't respond.
