Most pompous, try-hard epic trance track?
DJ Scot Project - Overdrive. This is like a huge, sugary cake - made only of sugar! Like a huge tsunami of chocolate. It's so goddamn bloated, pompous and generally trying hard, that it's... eh, the number one nomination in this topic.
List more, bitches.

Dammit, and I'm really hungering for chocolate right now.
System F - Elevate is the most sugary uplifting epic track I know.

System F - Exhale
Rank 1 - Airwave
Delerium - Silence (DJ Tiesto Remix)
etc.

Exhale?? WTF NO WAY
The drill and Triballa imo

Overdrive has one of the best bassline kick ins I've ever heard, but that main riff would kill a diabetic *puke*

A huge number of people list at least Airwave or Silence as their all time fave- I don't think they're really 'try hard epic,' they're pretty damn 'truly' epic imho.
Try hard for moi is more along the lines of-
1) Above & Beyond- any track of theirs really, but especially No One On Earth.
Seriously, the accolades these guys get is why trance is in such a bad state :-/ All they do is try and make epic anthem after epic anthem and think if they turn down the 'epicness' now and then it'll prove them to be artists that appeal to masses and critics alike. And why did they get to remix Silence? 'Oooh, let's try and make our version more epic than Tiesto's by overproducing it and giving it 50,000 layers and not letting a good vocal shine through with simplicity, cos trance is just so boring when you don't have 50,000 layers going at once.'
2.) All 2005 ASOT releases.
They all try and outdo each other in the epicness stakes, but begin with the same formula of unoriginal crap ideas. ie. Stupid melody intro the five year neighbour made up on her xylophone, weak female vocalist begins sooking about some lover leaving her, a few distorted/special effects get added to the vocals before beginning to increase the epicness with serious synths and bass and beats and melody and all the rest of it ALL GOING RELENTLESSLY AT ONCE . Don't forget to throw in a drawn out breakdown or two somewhere as that helps emphasise the epicness of the track.

Open for interpretation; when I refer to a track as 'Sweet', that means I like it. I'm guessing that's what radagast thought. Otherwise his post was offensive.

I know there's a soft spot for cheesy trance somewhere in him. He praises hard acid trance and lists Blood Is Pumpin' in it. That must mean something.

Nah. Silence isn't really pompous in the scale of things, and it doesn't really try that hard.
Walhalla tries really hard.
