These are the crazies in my neighbourhood
Every 'hood has one, the resident crazy. It could be the preacher on the corner or the old cat lady who sits on her porch 24 hours a day. We try and look at them with compassion, sometimes they annoy, and sometimes they can provide some awesome entertainment!!
So who is your favorite neighbourhood crazy?
I have 2:
Firstly I have my beloved Jamaican Church Lady. Who will stand at the corner of Oakwood and St. Clair for hours on end preachin' the words of the hAlmighty one. Now what makes her special is that no matter what the weather; 30 above or 30 below. She will always have the same gear on. At least she dresses warm with full touque, scarf and winter jacket. My firend loves her too as almost everyday she walks by his house, turns to face it, raises her bible and shouts religious obcentities at his house. I tell him she knows he is going to hell... then he cries.
Secondly I would like to give props to the man I call Squilly! Now Squilly may be the most known crazy in the city and if you've riden the TTC on a regular basis in your lifetime you've met him too. Squilly, a middle aged man with what I guess is Tourrettes rides the TTC for a living. He seems to know everybody as he will ask any of his friends on the bus who has ANYTHING: coffee, pop, chips, cigarettes, chocolate bar, candy... yes ANYTHING. "can I have a sip?" he shouts as the unsuspecting traveller looks up at him in shock. I sit in the back chuckiling to myself sipping my coffee just waiting for him to ask me. He asks, I offer... to pour it into his hands... he accepts my kind offer. I pour. Squilly I love you.
Anyone have any to share?
And for the politcally minded: What should we do as a society to help these people?
I dont have any now that im living more north, but when I was living at queen and bathurst, there were a couple
First wasnt so much crazy vocally as much as he was just a regular. Hes a darker man, (almost black, probably east/west indian of some sort) Wore a big dirtied turban and a long black coat. He was always in the area, and after lving there a couple months, He recognized my face and knew I wasnt a threat to him so he left me alone.
There was another one, never actually saw him close up...but he would walk down queen st (by trinity bellwoods park) and be chanting religious stuff at the top of his lungs....but never during the day. This was ALWAYS at about 3 or 4 in the morning.
I was kind of in a iffy area though. To the west of me, at Ossington and Queen, is the Mental Hospital. Just east of me - well I think EVERYBODY knows what the corner of Queen and Bathurst is like. Theres an outreach shelter place right on the corner, north west side....I swear I once watched a man urinate in a corner by the stairs....then 10 min later as I was coming back, he was curled up in a ball, sleeping peacefully....in the same corner
More than once I had to kick to wake up a sleeping homeless person because they were sleeping right between my front doors and I couldnt get in..another time somebody tried to get in through my fire escape door.
Some Interesting times living down there thats for sure...

I am the crazy in my neighbourhood
Theres this one guy for the whole month of December, would go out into the middle of the street, with nothing but tight red shorts and a santa hat. Everyday i drove home around 4:30, there he was, drunk/high apparently, but he may just be a big santa fan. Not too sure.
Oh - it was the corner of Eglinton and Scarlett (Dixon)
OMFG ZANTA RULES!!!!!!

He acts crazy, but really isn't. He's got a great story, and I hope ge gets the fame he's looking for.

Well, I live at College/Spadina, otherwise known as the bermuda triangle (consisting of the CAMH, Hotel Waverly, The Scott Mission, and of course our beloved Comfort Zone.)
I have way too many crazy stories... but I love it... coming from the safe and isolated suburbs it's nice to be in touch with urban downtown life. I get all of my experiences first hand, not from a biased news station.
I think I'm my neighbourhood crazy...I'm the only one going out at 11 at night and coming back at 6 in the morning...I'm the nocturnal vampire of the night.
I also think Dan (Playa24_7) would be the crazy in HIS neighbourhood haha

haha i remember Zanta he does push ups on the subway and claims he's not crazy.
one time while riding the subway this guy gets on the train, the train's doors close and he starts freaking out and screaming "get me out of here" we stop on the next station and he starts apologizing to everyone and explains that he is extremly closterphobic, his screaming went on for another 4 stops and everytime we stop he would apologize, it was a crazy situation.

Every penny (literaly) she has she have to put in a safe at home and the next morning bring it to the bank (my wife works at that bank...) because she believe someone will steal her...heeheheh its too funny and sad at the same time.

mine is the one greek guy at scarborough town center.. not really my neighbour but w/e.. if you ever been there hes always bythe hmv enterance or by ttc walking around in figure eights smoking.. i asked him about it and he said i just come here to smoke.. did i mention hes been there for the last 2 yrs every day.. lolll
my old neighbourhood.... we got the super drunk, gas tank leaking, 50 cars parked on the driveway, ghetto black guys picking up the blonde whore daughter, police visiting, paramedics always there, 100 cats, crack whore wife, wife beater wearing, 20 year old pick up driving, psycho, hitting on my mom, make the house turn to shit, super white trash family RIGHT NEXT TO US!!!!!!!!!!! it was a nice neighbourhood to. I have NO CLUE how they were paying for it, but they moved out after a year or so. Shit what a crazy year that was
I live in a Townhouse now. The people next to me have a "no solicating" sign up...and they have knocked on my door for my music being too loud and movies playing to loud. I just keep doing what I always do and dont care. Screw them. I dont usually have it up to loud or at unreasonable hours, so fuck em.
