Jake J - January '06 + Bonus Mix

Mixed With:
2x Pioneer CDJ-800s
Allen & Heath Xone:62
Pioneer EFX-500 (January mix only)
Apple Powerbook w/ Ableton Live (Bonus mix only)

These two mixes are the result of six months of using actual decks. There's not much that I don't like about the two, except that I think that I need to shorten intros when I use them (like on the second mix... I almost cut it from the MP3 before uploading it). The second one is older, from Fall last year. I threw in Go in this mix as a Marc Spoon thing, as J&S did the remix; the Go samples in the bonus mix are just coincidence. Anywho, here they are; the first mix is a tad calmer than the second, which is why I included both. I'll probably up some cue sheets later.

Both mixes are really good. Love the sampling you've done with ableton, it sounds very good. Not Zabs status, but gettin pretty fuckin close!

EFX on the intro's is good to...makes me want one

Beatmatching/CDJ wise, it was good too, a few mixes sounded a little quick but it was overall fine.

Nikola Gala -NomadSoul with Resident Evil samples was FTMFW!

It seems hard to find decent sets of this style these days so keep it up and keep it posted here please.

just listened to your Jan 06 mix for the first time and i really dig it... good job!

my only complaint is that in the intro and outro, the effects seem to go a little off beat with the natural 4/4 progression... certain sounds come in when i wouldn't expect them to, like my brain subconciously knows when the first or 2nd beat should hit, and when a certain sound from the FX comes in off beat, it sounds a little weird to me.

but track selection, transitions, and programming = A+!!

Jake I'm serious. It's refreshing to hear someone spin music that not a lot of DJs spin, not to mention your technical abilities are ridiculously mint. I'd really recommend sending this stuff to some labels and let professional ears give this a shot.
