Did you buy your equipment new or used?
As someone looking into DJ'ing as a hobby, the question dawned on me:
New or used?
What were your intentions when you bought your equipment, and how did that affect your decision?
(Seconday question) Has anyone bought from 1200s.com? Their prices seem too good to be true.
Apparently 1200s.com has fucked over a lot of people..
Try searching this forum for them..

Ive always bought new just for sheer peice of mind if that anything goes wrong im covered with warranty and such.
2x1210 mk2s i got are secondhand, paid 400 for them and they are in mint condition. Just had to change the plugs cos they were fitted with some weird ones
(tells me they are grey imported maybe?) gutted aswell since Ive recently spotted at the same place m3d's for 440!
I wouldve bought em if I had the cash and then sold mine off for what bought em for.. mk2>mk3 for 40! needless to say they were sold a few days later.
My smx501 mixer I bought new (230) since I didnt want a secondhand one..Amp (150) and speakers (70) were all new as was the laptop (500)
not bad setup really for what I paid.

Everything I've bought has been brand new and I won't have it any other way. I'm not one to settle for used stuff, especially with regards to audio and video equipment, as I know exactly what I'm getting and in what current state/condition the gear is in (save of course for factory defects). Also, I get much more pride and gratification in knowing that I was able to purchase something with a higher price tag as brand new, however moot that might seem.

vmc-004 -new (sold)
pmc-55 (used)
i almost went all new. i was saving up for a nuo-4, then i changed my mind and decided to go for the nuo-5. at the time, it was cheapest new mixer i could find that had everything i wanted, in terms of features, and sound quality. that was until i saw a killer deal on the pmc-55. the fact that i could go rotary, and switch back to faders if i didn't like it was the main factor that made me take the plunge. on top of that i had a good idea of how good it would sound, and i knew i would be getting a solid, and reliable mixer.
if i EVER buy another mixer it will definately an extremely high end rotary. -nothing less, and nothing w/faders.
i bought everything new.
