Im annoyed at Vandit again
A while back I praised Vandit for launching Vonyc, where you can download Vandit releases.
Time passed, and I forgot to go there again. The other day I decided to browse their catalog, and was fairly impressed with the stuff they had. There were 2 ones I wanted, and I thought that at 1.29 each it was a very fair price.
BUT
For some reason, Vonyc have this daft system of buying credit. You cant just spend 1.29 and buy a download. You have to buy 5 worth of Vonyc credit and use THAT to buy a download. Thats fucking retarded in this day and age. For christs sake, why cant you do it like the other companies and just charge per download, instead of some ass-backwards credit system. You cant buy 5 worth of tunes, if you buy 3 tunes for 1.29 each you pay 3.87. But if you want 4 tunes, it comes to 5.16. Uh oh! You then have to buy a 10 voucher.
Fucking dumb, stupid and daft. Once AGAIN Vandit have fucked up royally. It may not be a major thing to people who buy rakes of downloads, but Im not a DJ and only would want to buy a few Vandit downloads. The hell with that now. Until they remove this stupid bullshit Im not buying another Vandit release.
I had the same problem with Anjuna. I tried to buy one song and I couldn't because of the $5 minimum purchase. The reason for this is to make up for the lost money when processing credit card. Apparently there's some type of fee they pay? Anyways I ended up buying the same song on Beatport.
edit: I forget to mention that beatport doesn't do that $5 minimum purchase crap. just buy and download, easy as that. Although after browsing the site, they don't have a lot of PVD-Vandit related stuff.
Does sound like a ****ish method of getting you to spend more.
this is the same greedy system www.city16.com is using.
Yup, it's a retarded system many websites are using.
I mainly only buy from Audiojelly - best mp3 site imo and no silly credit systems.
Oh yeah... I use Audiojelly & Beatport all the time. Trouble is, all Vandit releases are exclusive to Vonyc
they should just put the initial price of downloads up, sure it'd be shit, but at least they'd justify it rather than hidden bs
Holy shit that is retarded man... how fucking greedy can these people get???
but it's clever, because you'd be surprised the amount of people who would think " well i'm 16 cent short, why not just add another 5 euro!"
My apartment's laundry cards work the same way, only accepts $5,10, 20s, yet charges are $1.85/laundry load and $.80/25 minutes of drying. In 2.5 years, I've had a $0 balance on my card only once.
Absolutely annoys the hell out of me.
this is basically the labels definition of "leeching"
i guess it's this sort of thing with their own websites that prevent us from having a major centralised mp3 legal download site with a huge dream catalog. i mean, i look mostly at samples of real releases in juno, and when i go to beatport for curiosity they only have like half of the tracks at the very best. the positive side is that they (apparently) remain forever but still it sucks :\

VONYC isn't the size of Beatport or whatever, and most likely do have to pay an upfront credit card fee. So they would be loosing a lot of money if they were to see tracks at $2 each. Beatport probably has a deal with the companies since they are big enough, so that they can afford to sell single mp3s.
For example most small stores wont let u use a credit card unless its a sale over $10 here anyway. Where bigger stores it doesn't matter.
I think people should just be happy that Vandit got something working.
Ok so why don't they let Beatport or Audiojelly sell their tunes so that their customers can get what they want cheaper???

It's just business. Some companies can afford to take a hit by allowing customers to use a credit card for small purchases, others can't. It's not their fault. If you want to complain, complain to the credit card companies, but even they have to operate with certain policies in order to make money.
And are you sure that you have to buy a voucher in increments of 5? Because you should be able to pay 5.16 for 4 tracks instead of having to spend 10 if the minimum purchase is 5.
