ok im immature. I d check out this party but i have to go to system... too bad the promotors didnt plan the events on different days.
The venue sounds nice but i don't know how many people want to pay
$39 for sneak and micro....is this a destiny event?
........
*cough cough* destiny party
hey all...
it's a little different from the usual. different venue...
don't get me wrong... it's a stellar lineup. prolly gon be there
looks like something to experience to understand. other than that, i don't see too many peeps too hyped for this one... jus my opinion.
peace
aj
I agree with toosweet. After reading about the party, I didn't find myself interested in going. I wouldn't pay $39 for that line up. So it's a Destiny Party? Is this what Destiny meant when they said they were going to throw more sophisticated parties that would be 19+ ?
this party is just what our scene needs....
new concept, most importantly - new, very interesting venue.
sure, the lineup's not totally stellar to most people, but I for one want to see more events like this, with more diverse lineups, so i'm going to support it.
sorry, but going to system every friday, or partying with high school kids at the palais every saturday, just isn't my idea of an interesting electronic music scene

I'm with you on this one Viceroy. Although the venue and event sounds interesting and different, and I love the designated smoking area policy (i.e. I can breathe unlike at "breathe"), I'll be at System instead. Now, the price is quite high, but with a better line up I'd pay it just for the smoking policy.
Starecase!!
Starecase people - !!!
If you haven't heard Starecase you have to. Amazing tracks!!

Peace, Jason.

Downstairs is the pumping tunes, and peeps can smoke down there if you want. The club is called Vivid.
Viceroy, you live in St. Kitts? I live in Hamilton but my friends and went to Vivid all the time last summer. I love it there. I love Mike Conradi's sets. Is he still there? I wonder if we've met before?
Oops, I just noticed that you live in Buffalo ---> duh!!!

I want to quit (all types of) second-hand smoking dammit! I wish they implemented this widely too, but then again you'll have all the smokers complaining...

| Originally posted by feisty boy i wish more places in toronto would adopt not only the smoking part, but more importantly the CHILL part.... i've always longed for places with couches, candles, ambient or downtempo tunes - places like that in t.o. always get quickly swamped by college st. twenty somethings, and the vibe becomes 'be seen' instead of just have a beer and chill... and i meant no disrespect to system, i meant it more in a very general way - as in, the weekend options in toronto have become more habit than innovation |
Renaissance
Just wanted to answer a few questions...
Renaissance is a collaboration of elements of Destiny and Lifeforce - not just one or the other. We decided a more mature and sophisticated approach to throwing events was needed in this city and Renaissance is out first big splash into this genre. This does not mean the end to Destiny or Lifeforce events in the future - we just wanted to create a choice for people and try to inject some fresh life into the scene!
We understand its a few bucks higher than your standard massive at the CNE or something like that, but its an issue of the venue costs - Roy Thomson Hall is basically the Carnegie Hall of Canada, not some big square warehouse or club - this is where the BIGGEST names in the clasical diciplines come to perform when they play in Toronto as it is like the finest accoustically designed room in Canada. While this will create an amazing event, it also comes at a steep price for us. Even with sponsorship it is unlikely that the event will be profitable - but it will be fun! Come check us out - we know you will be glad you did - its gonna be a gret show and is exactly what this city needs!
One minor housekeeping not - OLA is not selling tickets for any events anymore including this one, so please don't head down there for your Renaissance tickets. Also, we have added Tripp at the Fairview Mall as an additional outlet.

Re: Renaissance
Guess the only thing I'm worried about is where does the dancing happen.. I've never been to RTH, but aint in an auditorium, with more room to sit than to dance, or do you guys expect people to dance on and between chairs and such...
About the ticket price, at first clance its a bit steep for people used to going to clubs evrey weekend, but quite honnestly, its a good price
I guess the people that can bitch are students who cant afford it.. (Like HONNESTLY, you should really have student discounts !!), because there's a LOT of people on OSAP, going to school fulltime, and such who dont make money like they used to when they were in high school and shit, so are supporting the scene less. (yours truely, who'll be broke at least for the next 2 years, and more if I continue to grad school)
.. my rant =0

Hahahaha!
Good one, sylphin... cuz I can recognize myself in that comment!
I am definitely broke already, and the only events I am checking out in the next couple of months are those cheap ones... cuz $40 just doesn't come that easily to full time Univ. students on OSAP, like myself...
ditto. Sounds like a suit and tie event because of the price and the location.. and being pressed for cash and on OSAP doesn't help one bit
question to promoters: how many people do you expect to see at this event?
now now
hey all...
i'm not a part of destiny or its affiliates, but come on... they are providing a stellar lineup in a "unique" venue. it's what they promised and what they are delivering. the all ages scene has always looked good... and now the 19+ events are looking up. although the "hype" may not be all there like possibly expected, this is a step in the future of having different venues for events in toronto.
however i will agree with some peeps who say that this party seems like it will be quite posh... i mean, roy thompson hall... "dress to impress".... i guess it's meant to be that way in a sense to celebrate almost a new beginning for destiny/lifeforce in the scene.
jus my thoughts... peace
aj
Promoters please reply
Everyone I know wants to hit this party ... but everyone is CLUELESS about your dress code policy !!! "Dress to IMPRESS" (No HATS and NO Bandana) If the policy means we have to wear formal gear ... ALOT of ppl won't go to this.
Are we allowed to wear
(In respectable and clean cut appearence *Even if it's baggy*)
Phat Pants
Nylon Pants
t-shirts (long sleve and short sleve)
plaid and polo shirts
hoodies
*** RUNNING SHOES !!!??? ***
It's great to see LifeForcce and Destiny holding 19+ events. These 2 were my fav production companies back in the days. Screw the little kiddies ... they are the trouble makers nowadays. (Even in the recent years ... most of the crapp that went on at raves were from ppl over the age of 19 ... it's the atomsphere that triggers it. EX: Being all THUGGED OUT or testing how much substance indivuals can handle.
If Destiny and LifeForce throw 19+ events from now on ... once again you'll get 101% support for me and your regulars fans. We're all grown up now and it's about time to move on the better things in life. 19+ PARTIES !!!
More Answers!
The "Dress to Impress" line was simply put in as a suggestion. We never meant to imply that there was any sort of imposed dress code - it was simply a suggestion we felt would go nicely with the theme of the venue - so no worries - wear whatever you want!
As for dancing, we have two dance floors - one on the main stage where the symphany plays (fits about 600 at a time, but the seats are open so people can also lounge and relax in that room as well (there are thousands of seats). The main lobby ring has a larger dance floor which will accomidate as many as want to be there. There are also 6 to 8 individual bar stations located throughout the lobby ring, so no waiting in long lines for a drink
RTH is also opening its underground parking lot which connects directly to the main door without ever going outside! Their parking prices are somewhere between 5 and 8 dollars which is pretty low for downtown Toronto on a Friday (for underground especially).
The non-seated event capacity of RTH is 2500.
Hope this answers a few questions!
