Be weary of the so called tours of gem shops and mines....alot of those are scams.

Also take precautions when hooking up with the locals "ladies", Thailand is known to have alot of cases of HIV/AIDS.

All in all its a really great place, the scenery is amazing! I love the people, they're generally very warm and friendly! Where abouts are you going?

I went to Phuket in april, its gorgeous there, you couldn't really tell such a devistating event took place only 4 months earlier. Depending on what you want to do... Do you want to party or relax? The full moon parties are pretty crazy!!

here are some pics I took of phuket when I was there

About when exactly in April are you heading to Thailand & what part of Thailand are you planning to visit?

I am also going to Thailand in April and pretty familiar with Bangkok area. Give me a shout on any questions and I will gladly to help you out with.

Smiley DJ

Been there, here's my list of advice about the Full Moon Party:
- arrive a couple of days ahead in order to get a bungalow around Had Rin (the beach itself)
- Don't get your hopes too high about the music, no one over there really knows how to spin and there are about 10 music (all different styles) outlets scattered around the beach which makes for a nice cacophony
- most people there will drink, not drop
- DON'T buy any drugs on the spot, most dealers are undercover cops looking to catch stupid tourists who will get scared and pay huge bribe to get out of trouble (ie Thai prisons are not where you want to end up)

In conclusion: the Full Moon Party is a hollow hype, don't waste a whole lotta travelling time going to Kho Phangan, try Kho Tao instead, more relaxed and less drunks!

Enjoy!

I stayed in Bangkok but went to Phuket, Pattaya, and Hardyai back in '98. It was the trip of a lifetime and actually what prompted me to fully enjoy and become an EDM lover. Full moon parties rock and the people in Thailand are extremely friendly/courteous.

Phuket, Pattaya & Hardyai were all dream destinations..even if it was only on weekends we were there. The natural beauty of those places is breath-taking.

Bangkok is your typical dirty overcrowded 3rd world country.. but also with alot of history and beautiful architecture. Tuk Tuks..and motorcycle taxi's rock!

Another thing... I've never been asked for money before...

Damn!! I'm leaving on the 22nd ... I guess I won't be joining you after all. Be sure not to miss Songkran (Thai New Year) between April 12-14, which is basically water fights all over the city. Mostly at Sanam Luang, near by the Grand Palace and around Khao San Road (backpackers area). There are tones of activites to do besides partying but just to let you know, clubs usually open from 9pm and close at 2am.

In terms of Thai culture, I am Chinese and let me tell you, my eyes were opened after my 5 months living there last summer. PM me if you have any questions.
