[REVIEW] Above & Beyond 1/20/06 - Avalon Boston

VERY kickass time!! Some trainspotted tunes:

UPDATED with what I remembered / people added:

Above & Beyond - Air For Life (Orig Mix)
Luminary - Amsterdam (Smith & Pledger Remix)
Maor Levi - Shining (MAAAAAAAAAAAAJOR CHOOOON!! :P )
Above & Beyond - No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Remix) vs Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Acapella)
M.I.K.E. - Strange World 2006 (M.I.K.E.'s Rework 2006)
Above & Beyond - Alone Tonight (Matthew Dekay Remix)
William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Oceanlab - Sirens Of The Sea (Original Mix)
Super8 vs DJ Tab - Helsinki Scorchin'
Summer Sessions - Blossom
Above & Beyond pres. Unkle Petter - So Many Faces

Tony was wicked nice!!! I requested Dido - Sand In My Shoes, and he pointed out to me, and told me during his show, taking the time, to let me know he didnt have it with him and he had looked for it.. afterwards, photos, autographs all around and just lotsa warm words and positive stuff! Nothing more can be asked for beyond great music and a non-guido crowd and a nice vibe for once in our iffy Boston night life Props to one solidly good night Only thing taht coudl have gone better is had Paavo's flight not been cancelled.. Otherwise is about all I have to say Pictures to come in the next couple of days!

Also, ran into Greggy420k and GU as usual Definitely some TAs were out tonight... always a good thing!

Overall, a good night. It was a really good set by A&B or, i should say 1/3 of A&B. It was nice seeing them on the stage, with plenty of room to dance up front. Anyone know the name of the song that was played at like 1:15am, right before Need to be loved?? that song was wicked, had me dancing so hard....would have stayed out longer, but my legs were sooo tired.

Nice to see Dubs and djy2g33.

Good times. Good times. Tony is super nice, he autographed my cd booklet from Anjunabeats Vol. 3 That made me happy. He also came and kissed me on the head, lol! He's a very friendly guy, two thumbs up from me

OK.. Boston != New York.. lol... our clubs close at 2... there is rise but thats ONE afterhours club pretty much... hence getting home at 3-something is pretty much the norm Yeah it sucks but this is as 'enjoy your life' as we have to get used to here.... Way to be a mean drunk hahah

I'm only jealous of you guys for your aliver nightlife is all.. no hate

Also heard Reflekt featuring Delline Bass- Need to Feel Loved...not sure which remix though.
:edit: my friend also spotted oceanlab- sirens of the sea (above and beyond remix)-- that was probably one of the tracks of the night for me...

definately was a solid night, jay p played a sweet warm up set. He played Chris Lake- Changes

All three of Above and Beyond are really stand up guys. They really took the time to interact with the fans. Really nice to see. Tony was interacting with the crowd all night, i didn't stick around to get autographs or anything, but all night he was coming up the crowd and shaking hands and taking pics...really nice to see.

did they happen to play Above & Beyond pres. Unkle Petter - So Many Faces?

I love that friggin tune!

I thought it was Rollerball - Albioni? Didn't sound like Ferry's mix to me, although I was just so excited about everything else, I could very well be wrong.

Ahh shite, its all coming back to me now....I was in Boston NYE last year and when the lights came on at 2, I thought there was some sort of emergency/electric disfunction/etc.....word. With such a decent size city (especially FULL of young college students) I wonder why the city doesn't stay open later?

(If they are worried about drunk ppl, why don't they just stop serving at 2, but keep the doors open?) They should give people a few hours to sober up before they leave anyways!

I dunno, my two cents. I any case I am jealous bc you guys were at A&B so we are even!! LOL

Yes, Tony played it ...and also Summer Sessions - Blossom, and also Alone Tonight (Matthew Dekay Mix)

once again, worth the 4 hour trip to Boston just to see anyone in A&B

I had a great time in boston this weekend. Avalon was the icing on the cake.

William Orbit- Adagio for Spring( Above and Beyond 'Opera' mix)

> This tune has played at one of those TATW episodes...

I remember tony has suffered to mix up with the song and opera vocal for six hours..

Posted by EliPsE on Jan-24-2006 05:43:

nice pics TOM but uhhhhhhh "Shadoooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww" for the few that know what im talking about omg haha

Posted by Miss Bliss on Jan-24-2006 05:43:

Is it just me or do the dancing girls get really old... especially since they have them at every event! For me, it's just another reason I don't want to set foot in Avalon; dancing slutty girls need to stay in Webster Hall and in strip clubs. Maybe if they had them once a month or something... but nooo... They're entertaining for about 15 minutes, until you get bored of their uninventive moves and get disgusted by the pervy old men standing around staring at them adoringly!!
