-- I mix like ****!

Evil1 I mix like ****!

Every time I mix I don't like any of the transitions, they seem too damn simple. Especially when I listen back to them... I think they're complete shit@@ Bwah! I feel like going apeshit on my mixer...

When I listen to any other mixes they seem flawless...perfect...and make me feel like I have gotten NOWHERE in the poast 1-2 years of mixing. I feel hopeless that I am not progressing. ?On top of that I'm too damn lazy to take up a chance I have to play somewhere because of things like this. I feel like I mix like shit, and am always thus hesitant to go out after my dreams...

/End Rant

Now you may go about your daily business.

There are things you can do to improve your mixing.
Harmonic mixing will improve your transitions.
Mix a remix songs together untill you find a transition you like.
When you mix them the way you like take a look at how you did it and try using it as apart of your technique.
Iv only been mixing for two years and i know im not professional yet but i know that im always improving aslong as i practice and try new things.

you gotta leave things alone sometimes...you might think it sucks but someone else might think its good...

Go trainspot some good DJs. Steal their methods.

Have a large concert in the Amsterdam Arena with performers, trapeez, and that girl from Andain doing the running-man dance.

what mixer u got?
try changin it if you dont like it, you might not need an ugrade, even downgradin for a while might help you!

also if youve changed genre in the past that might be a part of it!
but if you havent then take the advice ^^^ and start paying attention to what other dj's are doin and try and copy there techniques.

Thanks all! Yea I have the Numark 200 FX mixer... but I can't really say I can do much with it.

All it has are channel faders, X-fader, and effects like flanger, echo... thats it... (I have yet to learn what filters are)

But damn its difficult, people telling you constantly to turn your musicdown (i live with parents), interrupting, never getting to just hit the decks like you want to, being afraid to promote yourself because of low self-confidence..

I'll try to listen to more mixes but really... when listening to smooth mixes, they are that...SMOOTH, how could I copy that? I suck with EQs

maybe just a nasty case of the dj's period???

About a week or two.

I do have a mix up, but it has a few hiccups /beatmatch errors (however I am competent at beatmatching, it's just not always spot on for the full hour mix) And a few hasty mixes, but it was just a random thing.

Which is clearly how I learned...

You just gotta work hard man and it'll come to you... And always remember that you are your own worst critic...

youl find most dj's get a period, kinda dj's block!

for a day or 2 of day every month or two they just wont be able to mix no matter how hard they try, but it never last two weeks so id say its definately no that

and just tell your parents to stop fuckin interruptin! put a lock on your door or somethin. if ma dad told me to turn the tunes down id tell him to get fucked! mind you, hes goin deaf now anyway

Yea it happens.
I find various alchoholic drinks and drugs can cure these problems.
What makes it worse is that you know for some reason you cant mix for and you get frustraited and then you make it worse for yourself.
So the alchohole does help because it calms the nerves.
But too much and you will just think your doing better.
