Question Scooter

who else thinks he sucks?

Posted by Quethas on Jan-24-2006 11:21:

With the new stuff I would say yes. Old stuff was awesome (Rhapsody In E, No Fate )

old stuff was good! i agree with the new stuff.

good songs were

*how much is the fish
*weekend

it's not HE, it's THEY. They are a trio.
and yes they suck. Basicly they've always sucked more or less. But during the last 5 years they've sucked more than ever. Tunes like Weekend and Jigga Jigga make's one want to vomit on the radio.
They are also famous for ripping of and ruining classics such as Zyon's No Fate, Push's Strange World among others.

The only decent way to listen to Scooter is to listen to some few good remixes. Such as Scooter - I'm Raving (Taucher Remix) and Endless Summer (Datura Remix)

Scooter - Rhapsody In E<--- Released in 94, probably one of the best rave song from this good old time

Scooter - Hyper Hyper
Scooter - No Fate (Trance Mix)
<---but the original "Zyon - No Fate" is much better...

In my heart for ever...

Smile

Welcome to 2001.

I used to be a big fan of them 10 years back but the more time went by the worse they got until they turned into total crap in the late 90s and even deeper into it they have gone ever since.

Their take on Zyon's No Fate is horrible except for Trance Mix which ditches HP's vocals and ends up being an OK version. For the most part all their main single tracks haven't been anything to talk about but the instrumental b-sides like Rhapsody In E, Across The Sky,.. and various album tracks like a nice d'n'b track Tonight are a different story, and i'm talking mainly about pre '98 material here, not any of their more recent stuff. Some of the old tracks are still great and their debute album ..And The Beat Goes On! is by far their best.

I still like them. They've brought out some good B-sides. I really like the sound of their song Trance-Atlantic.

And I really like the old remixes of their songs. the Move Your Ass! (Ultra-Sonic Remix), and the Datura Remix
of Endless Summer is very good. It's even better that the Datura remix gets rid of the chipmunk vocals and turns
them into woman's vocals!

Their Ratty stuff's really something though. I love the Ratty Remix of Ron Van Den Beuken's Timeless!

Billy Idol's original version of Eyes Without A Face is soo much better. And Friends, ehh.. ehh.. i have never been a huge fan of it. Too annoying.

if you are a fan of cheap melodies and chip munk vocals shouting "RESPECT TO THE MAN IN THE ICE CREAM VAN!!" you'll propably love Scooter. Personally I would say that they are one of the worst music acts I have ever heard in any genre.
They were actually voted as the worst music act in a newspaper here. I couldn't agree more.
Their latest stuff is a disgrace to the word "music".

Posted by Dj Bojan Zec on Jan-24-2006 20:40:

yea the new stuff is retarded but the old songs werent bad and im not a huge fan of them its just that how much is the fish is the song that got me into the electronica music

Posted by GrimReaper on Jan-24-2006 21:00:

Respect to the man in the ice cream van isn't just some hilarious random line thrown in but it's one of the numerous references to the KLF which Scooter guys seem to be using alot in their tracks. Back when the KLF were still active, they drove around with an ice cream van and they also used several ice cream van related things in their releases.. especially with Justified and Ancient. I don't know if Scooter still refer to the KLF in their more recent material. Haven't listened to them in years, except for the early works.

Posted by gurra on Jan-24-2006 21:31:

Well, I admit I listened to them back in the 90's. Their music and other similar stuff got me into edm.

i agree basically with what rebel9 said... though i do like ratty - sunrise a lot.. brings back memories from back in the day

yeah i know that's what makes me so mad at Scooter. And as you said The KLF is propably the group Scooter have stolen most from. Just the fact that they HP Baxter shouts "All aboard all aboard whoh hoh" in Nessaja says it all :P
And the album title "Back to the heavyweight jam" and the copcar in some scooter videos is directly taken from the Timelords records covers.

Yep i guess Scooter want to be like them.. big musical thieves like the KLF were back then except they were even bigger thieves, stole everything imaginable and hardly ever gave credits to anyone and that's why one of their albums was never officially released because it was filled with unauthorized samples and material. Hail to Kopyright Liberation Front!!

are you refering to their first album 1987 (What The Fuck Is Going On?), . That one was actually released but only available in stores during 5 days. then it was quickly taken back. The reason was that it sampled ABBA's music heavily. Bjrn and Benny from ABBA demanded it to be taken off the shelves and destroyed.

But most funny is that the CD was re-released after a while but this time without all the stolen samples. Instead of putting in new samples the tunes was kept as they were but without the stolen samples. This resulting in several silent parts in some tunes. With the album came also an instruction guide for the listener how to add the "lost" samples with a sampler by themselves to make the tunes sound as they were meant to from the beginning!
