How dull is your town?

Bournemouth; home of international superclub Slinky, beaches and (according to the media) one of the most lively towns in the UK. You'd think then that our local newspaper would be an interesing read. Think again. Here follow just a few excerpts from todays edition of local newspaper The Daily Echo:

Game Stolen, Page 6
A computer game valued at 22 - based on the television program "Who wants to be a Millionaire" - was stolen from the Woolworth store in Southampton Road on Saturday.

Market is off, Page 7
This weeks Farmers' Market in Poole has been cancelled. The sale was due to take place this Sunday.

Breaking News, Page 8
Anybody interested in learning the skills of street breakdancing are invited to join in on lessons at St Clement's Church hall from 7pm to 9pm every Monday.

Bourough's library opening hours increased, Page 11
From January 28 the overall opening hours of libraries in Poole bourough will be increased by 39 hours a week.

It's only fair to point out though that these stories were eclipsed by the front page stunner:

Pupil Set fire To A Teacher
A teenage pupil has been thrown out of a Bournemouth school after setting fire to a teacher's hair.

So it's not all doom and gloom....

brampton's only club is hooterville, where you can see live performances from artists such as "shanaia tuane", "metal-licka", and "snupe dawg".

I never realized how everyone likes to bash their hometown, lol..

Mississauga and Brampton can't be that bad since you can drive down to T.O. whenever you like (if you find nothing to do in sauga or Brampton), and not only that, it's a hell of a lot quieter to live outside a metropolis... as for the dullness of these towns, brampton maybe but mississauga is ok

hahaha
are there any good clubs in your area? lol
I bet the rednecks there just listen to good ol rock'n'roll

I live in Baltimore and it sucks here too, very boring city, pretty dangerous too. The crime rate here is pretty bad. No attractions other than the inner harbor, which sucks too.

On the other hand, Baltimore is also famous for "the block". It's an area of downtown where all the action is. Strip clubs that go an extra mile, prostitutes, drug lords, etc. Very shady.

oh yes, how i could i forget to mention a town where i stayed for a bit
town: lubbock, tx
population: 1,500 ppl NO KIDDING! (high school population: 100 students)
status: the most boring place ive ever been to, honestly
main attraction: gas station
you had to drive on a freeway for a good 15-20 min to get to the nearest grocery store

Lubbock! hehe half the town is my relatives! My mom was born there and some grandparents live there, aunts, uncles, etc.... My relatives literally own half that town...

Yeah its dead but the story behind it is fascinating.. it boomed right around WWII because it was hailed as a new town, spring oasis in the middle of nowhere... a peaceful place for returning soldiers to live... so they packed it.... and it was a HUGE city in texas until the early 70's/80's.... finally the baby boomers moved out.. there is no industry there - no reason for people to stay there. Its sad, but thats how cities work....

**PlastikE - guys he isn't kidding - he lives in a small ass town... although i woudln't say it sucks... it was kinda "cute" and homely in a way... all the locals were nice and make you feel at home. (except for those that stare-you down b/c you had a car that was built in the 20th century)

...and my town...
Greater Ft. Lauderdale
Population: 1 million
we have REALLY touristy places, then we have VERY underground places, we have VERY safe areas, and we have the worst crime spots. We have canals running all throughout our city, called the "Venice of America".... shit we even have water taxis!! here:

...as far as the eye can see - that is Ft. Lauderdale, and more down behind the camera... i would not be able to fit it all in one picture.

Yes we have a big downtown with around 15 skyscrapers or so too... (just to the left of the picture...) we have around 10 municipal police departments, uncountable city parks, and we are actually bigger than Miami in square mileage. (Greater Miami has a higher population though - due to crowding IMO).

We are about 30 minutes north of miami... just a short stint from South Beach and all the goodstuff... We have one of the best Community Colleges in the nation, and some of the worst public school in the nation ...And then we have some of the best private schools as well.

We have some really financially burdoned (to put it nicely) people (mostly in the immigrant population), and we have some of the most ridiculously wealthy people. (see: houses on the beach).

Blah blah blah.....

wanna know what our headlines sound like?
"Body of kidnapped cripple found in dumpster tuesday night"

"Missing boss found in car trunk in towing yard impound lot"

"Stolen Cars turning up ditched in canals"

"Burglar successfully rob's tenth jewelry store at gunpoint."

.... you get the idea there are some worse (read: more violent) headlines.... but i won't burden you guys with them!
..in other words, it can be nice, as long as you stay in the right neighborhoods

some stuff about my town:

location - Saskatchewan (the largest city in the province is only a population of 250,000)
population - 2,500
movies 6 months old
hours to drive to find trance cd's for sale - 3 or 4
30 minutes to walk from one end of town to the other
7 minutes of driving around and you've been everywhere.
nothing open after 11

basically nothing to do, nowhere to go, everything is stale and i can hardly wait to leave.

i felt the need to reply to this topic. i live in michigan, usa. on a fricken island! 10,000 people on a damn island. 2 bridges, a video store, and a grocery store. 5 cop cars. bunch of rich snobby people off of lake erie and the detroit river. the only thing that has happened here is that some girl died from GHB in her drink. just an island with a big drug problem basically due to lack of things to do...yup.

Posted by Photo_bot_2k1 on Jan-19-2002 06:15:

um....

DANG i thought my town was dull
sheesh

thats pretty damnnnnnnnnnn dull

our loser no name town fremont,ca
is like about as fun as a stick with mud on the end

without the mud....

but i guess it has a lot of people which is cool
half of which are 1000000 years old and live in like giant houses...

the great MC hammer lived here once...
had the biggest house in the city
then he got jacked and now he lives in the hobo shack
(rhyming power)

everything exciting happens outside our town
there is NOTHING inside, but our neighboring cities have like everything going on

Brandon you forgot all this...
* Miami Florida?
* The Damn HICKS
* The Wanna Be thugs
* The Shitty Euro Cars that only have a huge ass muffler that you can stick cantalope in.
* Cherry Flats (local party spot)
* No entertainment (club wise) for the next 100 miles or so...
So IMO I think plastikE and Myself win so far hahahaha

geez Orlando isnt sounding to to to bad. But i must say this town sucks!!!!! We have hootchy mama clubs which are dressed to impress. Our DT consists of about 5 blocks i shall say?with nothing but homeless people lined up along the streets to snag ur last penny. Not to mention we have the worse mayor in the United States GLENDA HOOD!(spelling?). Shes so against clubs and "rave music". Closing time for clubs is 2:30 i believe and the after hours clubs SUCK. they are trash holes. Not to mention every car is a "rice burner". because thats all there is to do.. fix up ur hoopties.
