Arrow Your favourite Mix of 80s tune

My personal favourite is the "Take Me To The Taco Bell" song.

LMC Vs U2 - Take Me To The Clouds Above

As it is, the original pop-track "How will i know" by Whitney Houston was a good track. It's mix using U2s syth sample from "With Or Without You" with groovy bass complements the track very well.

I have 5 different mixes of this track and love each of them!

Any such song from 80s whose Techno/Trance mixes were a massive hit in the dance clubs and which make for good listening too?

message in a bottle...

both message in a bottle and take me to the clouds above are great but this one blows them out of the water:

Global Deejays - What a Feeling (Flashdance)

pm me if you can't find it.

80s tunes should never be remixed. they should be left alone. honestly, that's what made the 80s so great - was the music. so leave it alone!

wow, that made me feel old.

Posted by DickRenegade on Jan-25-2006 14:25:

^^ no way man. i think they should all be remixed. i watched footloose last night on HBO and there's a couple of songs in the soundtrack that definitely need a remixing!

You don't have to remind anyone... it did top the chart for several years.

It was a clever combination but not the best 80's remix I have ever heard -

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-25-2006 17:13:

Ah - here's a scorching one:

1200 Mics - Acid or Nothing

It's a cover of Money For Nothing by the Dire Straits.

So what is the best one that you have heard? Care to share with us?

"1200 Mics - Acid or Nothing"

Don't think i liked it that much when it came out. Gonna listen to it again to see if i missed something.

+1

All the British synth-pop sounded the same!
If the 80s was a good year for music, then it's obvious tubularbills means in a different country!

My fave track of the 80s is MJ's "Billie Jean". That's the one track that absolutely DID NOT need
any remakes or covers! Mind you, the Bushwacka 2001 Mix is nice.

I found a version of T.M.T.T.C.A. which had vocals by Siobhan Gallagher (Big Ang - It's Over Now). I haven't heard the Whitney Houston one, but I know her vocals are far better than Siobhan's or Rachel McFarlene's!

Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus (Shane 54 Mix)

I just think that 80s music was in a genre of its own.

Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Cyndi Lauper..... that's what reminds me of 80s music. and if someone was to change them, i'd be kinda sad.

Try the WhiteLabel Remix or the Club Mix or Scott Brown Remix or even the Radio-Edit. They all have original Whitney's vocals.

And i agree with most posters - 80s was undoubtedly the best era for music. If i ever have to list my top-100 favorite tracks, i think 80 of them will be from 80s!

I would love to see a Trance Remix of Kate Bush - Running Up The Hill and Alphaville - Forever Young. "Running Up The Hill" has a very hauntingly melodious synth/violin sample that would've really made for a darkish-trance track.

"sweet dreams are made of these....." thats the shit you play at like 3 am when you want the girls to take their panties off.
the 80's rule!

Posted by RJT on Jan-25-2006 21:09:

I was about to reply with Depeche Mode - Only When I lose Myself (Lexicon Avenue Remix), then I realized that's not an 80's DM tune... Good no less tho

I can't stand the 80s -- made even worse by their recent revival -- but this one does it for me.
