April 22....

Lee Burridge is Sasha's guest at Avalon...

Dammnn....

Posted by TSG on Jan-25-2006 19:31:

Sasha is coming back to Avalon and Lee B. is his guest? Does that mean he'll be spinning too? Last time the 2 were at Avalon, Lee kicked @SS!!! Sasha was still Sasha.... boring.

Hi Clovis!

Hi Clovis!

haha...what you seem to forget is that, unlike Armin, Sasha's tracklists change every 2 months. Hes now playing completely different music from what he was playing last year.

WOOT LEE + SASHA = OWN

Posted by Clovis on Jan-25-2006 19:37:

P.S. Me and Noree just had simultaneous orgasms at work.

FTW!

Posted by TSG on Jan-25-2006 19:43:

hahahaha... I hope you 2 cleaned up after each other.

sorry to correct, but armin switches his up every couple months as well. new songs are always coming out, so djs push a load of them for a couple months and then rotate in the new ones, regardless of whether they are Sasha or Armin.
To a huge Sasha fan, armins semi repetitive sets would probably be boring whereas to the armin fan, they are getting to hear all their favorite songs so to them it is not boring But you could say the same thing for a huge armin fan who thinks that Sasha is just playing the same tracks over and over, but to the sasha fan those are tracks you want to hear atm.

but nothing against sasha clovis, just making a point. (dont like lee though that much)
anyway..... carry on

actually no.....say Sasha plays today in LA.....and NY tomorrow.....he will play maybe 3 tracks from the LA set because those are the dance floor killers...and everything else will be totaly different! Say Armin plays LA today and NY tomorrow.....he will play same tracks...different order! big diff

carry on lol

Yeah, this is cause, like you said, armin fans want to hear their fav stuff, and the big hits...I know because I used to be the same way.

Now, I prefer a set to be full of stuff I have no fucking clue is. I want the DJ to take me somewhere I havnt been before. They're getting the promos and up-front stuff, so imo dropping a set full of mostly unknown and new shit isnt hard. Theres ALOT of music out there, way more than what the big guys (Sasha included) are playing. IMO the DJ's job is to find the best stuff and play it for people. Not recycle stuff you know works over and over till a new wave of big ch00ns comes in.

But to each their own, when I was a n00b at this music I loved Armin sets because to be honest, I didnt know shit about trance, so all the music was new to me. But after hearing Oceanlab - Satellite and No One On Earth for the 6,982,027 time (I see Above & Beyond are STILL playing both...) it started to get boring.

But enough Armin vs. Sasha talk.

This is gonna be sick.

And how can you not like Lee? Hes a fuckin character! Hes playing some pretty crazy minimal/acid shit at the moment...but thats not everyone's cup of tea. Of course, at a Fundacion night, you have two very talanted DJ's sharing the decks for the night, so the music tends to be alot more varied than a normal night with just one DJ.

I really wish trance DJ's would have these kind of residencies w/ guests...IMO it makes a night alot more fun and the DJ's put a little more effort into since they are going b2b with their peers...

i saw sasha once @ avalon...FUCKING KILLED IT

i've seen armin twice...he's been so-so

sasha=1
armin=.5

ps-i'm not looking forward to armin being in town at all this weekend. but i haven't been really listening to transe in the last couple months...i'm actually kinda bored in LA right now...someone tell me where the fart bass is at????

Well i dont think you prob have heard the song THAT many times but...
anyway, about that, most big djs really don't play that track anymore(unless its a encore maybe or somethin), if you havent been going to trance shows then how would you even know? plus last time i heard you could only get into avalon, which limits you. What is wrong with an artist supporting one of their own biggest tunes? i mean at concerts you always hear bands play those staple songs of theirs. i would think its ok for djs and producers to do it too.

yeah, definitely not mine. not to judge his talent or nething. just simply dont like the music i have heard him play. (but i am not knocking you or anyone else who does liek him FTR)
but whatever to all this shit anyway, basically some people liek hearing all new stuff and some people like hearing familair stuff. it is the DJs job to decide which category that crowd fits into and then play it like that.
chances are if armin is playing the same setlist over and over all over the world , its because people are lapping it up and going crazy over it , all over the world.
and if sasha is changing his setlist everyday, its because his fans support that format.
if the crowd wasnt down for the ways these guys structure their sets, then they wouldnt keep going and packing their shows.

Have to agree with you on some points. There are different levels of djing out there to cater to different preferences. I tend to prefer the creative approach in which the DJ is creating something NEW out of existing music. But to each their own
