O God! Now you got me going! Not blaming you but...
I'm furious with this PSP bullshit! I got this plan to protect the laptop I bought 2 years ago. I still have nearly 1 full year left on my plan and the laptop has some issues. They want me to sent it away for a month to get it all repaired. Too bad I don't have the time for it since I use it for work and personal use day in and day out. So I talked to the store manager and he won't do anything else for me. WTF is the point of the plan! I got it for this reason and now I can't use it!

Now what's this "PSP Hotspot" you speak of Nightscape?

What Future Shop?

lol I want to know the answer to this before I answer your question.

And no Minhaj, you can get extended warranty for up to 30 days after the initial purchase.

LOL

I work at the desk there. The manager you spoke to is a huge ****face. I'm not a fan.

Posted by Irishaddict on Jan-27-2006 05:23:

Anyways, yeah there's not much I can do to help you out with a laptop cuz it's crazy hard to get those exchanged under PSP. If it were something else I could easily have it exchanged. The warranty you bought is a Product SERVICE Plan not a Product REPLACEMENT Plan. I'm not being a sarcastic asshole here, PRP actually exists. We sell it on items under 200 dollars which is clearly not the case if you're talking about a laptop. So yeah, the warranty you bought gets your computer fixed at no cost to you. If they can't fix it you get a new one and if they have it in the depot over 60 days you also get a new one with the warranty that you have. I couldn't even talk to Chris for you because laptop exchanges have to be verified by the Depot and then APPROVED by head office. It's a painstaking process and not to mention takes forever.

Do you remember who you dealt with when you came in? Like, before you talked to Chris? What they looked like? Heh, I'm curious to know.

I feel your pain though. There needs to be a better policy for sure. I have to tell people when their monitors break that they have to be sent out for repair and I can't give them a new one. What good is a computer without a monitor?

YA! Chris...I didn't want to say names online but you said it first!
He wasn't an ass to me really, just didn't provide me with any other options.
I work near you too. Look at my avatar.

Man, do you notice how his ears turn red when he talks to customers?

He's such a prick and all high and mighty to me and looks like dog with his tail between his legs whenever he talks to customers. Blah.

I'm gonna take his name out of my original post though because I do like my job, lol.

Ya I know about that PRP and PSP thing and it's so stupid!
Now that you tell me this stuff, Chris didn't mention all this crap that has to happen with laptops, he just said we send it out next day and it should be back within a week. I knew he was bullshiting me that's why I didn't bother to come in. I emailed FutureShop headoffice in the beginning, they then told him to call me, but said email us back if there are further problems, which I might do.
Funny you talk about monitor issues, because thats one thing wrong with the laptop, the monitor plastic (near the bottom of it on the front) is cracking! Not to mention other issues.

Don't worry he won't know, and I won't say anything.

I didn't talk to him in person, he called me. Now that you tell me he turns into a geek when talking to customers I should come in and start a war.

Posted by Irishaddict on Jan-27-2006 05:33:

There's no way it'd be back in a week, lol. Pure bullshit.

I've seen laptops come back in 3 months.

What other problems are you having with the laptop? Were you at least given the option of having our in-store technician look at it? That should have been the first thing they offered you. If we can fix it at store level it saves you a huge hassle obviously.

Ok here we go...

1) The monitor thing I was saying, it's cracking on the front of the monitor on the plastic, where it connects to the computer. Hard to explain. It's not really effecting anything but it will spread like a windshield.
2) This thing is always overheating and shutting down. I don't have it on any fabric or cloth because I know thats what causes them to do so. It's always on a desk.
3) The CD/DVD rom sometimes doesn't feel like reading discs.
4) There's a burnt pixel in my screen...which is the least of my worries but stil bothers me.

Posted by Irishaddict on Jan-27-2006 05:43:

And here's where you're going to hate me even more.

The monitor thing I GUARANTEE the depot will return saying physical damage and therefore not covered under warranty. Not only that they'll probably charge you 39.99 for even coming to that conclusion.

As far as the overheating and shutting off the fan would be replaced. I've had that problem with my laptop before and that's what fixes it.

The CD/DVD-ROM would also be replaced.

And as far as pixels go there's a regulated amount that have to be blown before a monitor is deemed "defective" so therefore that wouldn't even be an issue to whatever technician was fixing it for you.

HAHA SONS OF BITCHES EH!

What you're telling me wouldn't even qualify for PSP exchange. It would definitely all be fixed at the depot. Stick it in the microwave or something, lol.

*I'm kidding, don't actually do that.

Posted by Pasta on Jan-27-2006 05:54:

Oh well. I guess I'll just have to run this thing into the ground.

I knew you looked familier. I'm there all the time spending every penny I have.
If I see you one day I'll come and say hello. And if your looking for a car, you know where to come!

There is...and I still can't afford one.

Nightscape, sorry we hijacked your thread, but atleast you know a little more about the Product Service Plan from Future Shop.

i'm totally going to your store, for no other reason than to be a total dick to this guy and ask 1billion questions, and then not buy anything

Posted by DJ Chrono on Jan-27-2006 18:16:

That's one good thing about Dell, they have a service plan where they actually send someone to your house to fix your laptop, so you don't have to deal with long wait times without a computer.
